You grow up. You guys are all wet blankets. The fact that all of you like the British guy, who adds absolutely no color, more than Barnett and Sunderland bickering with each other is wild. Literally every other American sports broadcast tries to add personality into calling the game, but this message board is full of stodgy nerds who get offended by the announcers lively expressing opinions. You want more of that British guy? Great, no one who doesn’t already live and breathe volleyball is going to watch that. honestly the British guy commenting the USA v ROC match was the funniest stuff I’ve heard in so long he sounded like a veteran poster from volleytalk towards the end of the third

100% prefer the British guy to Sunderland or Barnett. Listening to Sunderland is almost as bad as listening to Marlow. You would think that professional announcers who played at that level would at least bother to learn the rules. Interesting that for a sport that is primarily a women's sport, all the announcers seem to be men. Three of three on the broadcast I watched (Barny/Sunderland/Dain). Strange that after all this time, most of the non-playing positions in which people make a living in women's volleyball are still held by men. What are there 2-3 female head coaches in the women's tournament?

The first time Marlowe and Wong went to throw it to the sideline reporter, I was thinking, okay, that kind of sucks that they couldn't at least have had a female analyst, but I just knowww the sideline reporter's got to be a woman, right? And then, nope, it's Dain. It kind of put a damper on that first match for me. You sort of get used to it as the tournament goes along, okay, this is what they're giving me, but really it feels wrong.

Heather Cox has been working the indoor games, and she did play volleyball in high school and college.

On the NBC app it is always the british guy that is commenting. Where do i watch where Kevin is the commentator so I can get on the train hate.
Saw the NBC highlights for US vs ROC women and he was on it but on the app it is the british. I need to hear some drama. Thank you

I like him a million times more than Barnett. If I was making these decisions for NBC, I'd have Sunderland and Amy Gant call the women's indoor matches, and I'd have Sunderland and Blanton call the men's indoor matches.

Whatever network is carrying it. This is a good resource to find where things are - docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jgWPPmjjLG1a1IS4BMpFvuCjyNN6XmWIzpGlvZAstxA/edit#gid=913589253 - if there's no network shown, it's only the OBS world feed available.

I havent noticed Heather at all, although I turn the sound off fairly often to listen to other things. Even with Heather as a sideline reporter, you still have 5 male announcers for women's beach and women's indoor, and one woman, who has the smallest role, along with Dain. And, as shown in the last two days, Wong and Marlowe - I still love you Chris - don't know WTF they are talking about when it comes to women's beach.

I think this is a big part of the 'why'. The number of women in broadcasting is fewer than what networks would prefer, so when they ARE there, they get promoted beyond volleyball pretty quickly. Maria Taylor is the most obvious example, but Katie George also does football in the fall instead of volleyball. As she should, because that's how she's going to advance the fastest in her career. Cam Irwin will hopefully be in that mix soon. Although I haven't heard much of her. She does AVP stuff now on Amazon?

Maria Taylor is bad though, misspeaks a lot and a dry personality and you can feel the awkwardness when she interviews people. and George is the opposite she won’t shut up, so annoying.
