It’s starting to look more and more like the Imoco system does nothing for its players when it comes to playing for their national teams. Hill, Wolosz, Sylla and now Egonu. Their setters aren't just good enough. Wolosz knows how to properly set the ball to her players based on the tempo that they want.

There is something fundamentally wrong with Italian volleyball on both sides. To have, arguably the best league in the world, on both sides and not perform is just embarrassing. Is it the coaching? The commitment from the players? Too much change over time? 20 years later and I can’t for the life of me figure Italy out.

The US has their hands full. To be fair, I fully expect the US to perform better because they have more hitters that can make an impact. Also, I highly doubt the US will have a player that will have as many errors as Egonu had. But, as of now Serbia looks like the clear number 1 Huh?. . .”clear number 1”? They got blitzed by Brazil (3-1) a week ago. Serbia lost to Brazil because Brazil was able to spread out their attack. . . The US will do the same.

Hill, Wolosz, Sylla and now Egonu have all struggled to translate their club success to the NT i think conegliano can win olympic unbeatable if they are reoresenting a country.

Just watched this match. I agree that Italy needs to start taking VNL more seriously. There is no reason for them to be consistently under performing. It is wild to me that Malinov continues to be the one. Orro is no game changer either. Italy needs new blood at setter, for starters.

I haven't been following Serbia, how have they been doing so far? Any losses?

I haven't been following Serbia, how have they been doing so far? Any losses? lost to Brazil 3-1 and it wasn't that close. Boskovic has been her usual self. They've had stretches of poor play like everyone else.

Also good to hear that both Thompson and Poulter are able to play and I'm curious if Thompson is going to be back against Serbia.

It’s pretty obvious Serbia didn’t really care about the Brazil match
