Not looking to make a mountain out of a molehill just an observation of how the message was 12 Strong with 23 Deep…but it was more like 22 Deep. Please provide a ranking of the 11 left off the roster, sorted by Team USA social media interaction during the games to substantiate your allegation that Carlini is the 11th man out. Since apparently we’re going with the Gen Z mentality of “you have no value to me if you don’t fawn over me on social media”. Ridiculous. Settle down Hawk Attack, my pure observation was that she was very quiet about the team’s successes when the others weren’t. From the outside looking in, as a fan, she seemed the most distant from the group. It’s MY perception, that this is not the “kumbaya” attitude that we’ve all talked about Karch wanting for the program. Again, just MY two cents.

Why just women’s team? No one will predict our men’s team? Or is too unpredictable? Lol.

Most importantly- Matt said he’d be back.
Outsides - TJ, Russel and no idea after that I think Taylor may be done. Middles - Avril, Jendryk, Stahl Shoji will still be bro Micah will still be setting. Matty at opp.

Maybe a little bit of a stretch but here are my thoughts: OHs: Robo Plummer, SWP, Quade (predicting a huge year for her at Dresdner) MBs: Washington, Ogbogu, Rettke/Stivrins (is LS healthy enough to get time in the USA gym?) OPP: Thompson, Drews S: Poulter, Lilley L: JWO With how Carlini handled the roster announcement and being left off: i.e her IG Post with Kingdon and little/to no recognition of the team’s success…is Karch goin got re-evaluate her role on Team USA? Upset or not, her silence on social media spoke volumes. I love Quade. I hope she works her butt. What would be Robo's role 3 years from now? She's not as effective offensively as before and she will continue to decline when she reach 32 years old. I hope to see Mac May and Stumler as the next all around OHs. I can see Butler and Rettke eclipsing Ogbogu.

3 yrs is long, larson already mentioned it some of her interviews. She want a family and a baby. Its time to give chance to our younger players. Who knows krob also want a family within that span of 3 yrs, she is merried and she got gold medal. Am not seeing mbh for paris. Hill and foluke will retire for sure. 100 percent agree.

I just noticed Drews is missing?! Wholy cow is this Jane Fonda, lord. She is 86... she looks good. Operations galore but looks good, relentless energy she has.

To those predicting Lilley, why her over Jenna Gray? (I’m a Stanford fan so obviously I’m biased) but Gray had a great season at Dresden. What differences do you see in Lilley and Gray?

It's just too early to tell. Lilley will play her first pro season in Potsdam this fall. There will be quite a few (hopefully) fantastic showdowns between Gray and Lilley.

What ericleo said and both need to play against better competition. The German league is a step (or two) down from Turkey and Italy.

I would just take the Olympic Gold Medal winning roster and plug in players as retirements are announced. So far, only Hill and Larson have semi announced retirement and Larson is signed to play in China and probably AU again this season. With the World Championships next season, I think we will see most of them stick around. Hell, since the quad is shorter I don't think we will see a ton of turnover.
That being said this is what the 2022 WCH Roster could look like
S: Poulter, Hancock, (Carlini) OH: Larson, MBH, Krob, SWP, Plummer, (Courtney) MB: Akinradewo, Washington, Ogbogu, (Dixon/Tapp) OPP: Thompson, Drews L: Wong-Orantes
I only see these (players) as bubble players who could nab a spot. One of either Tapp or Dixon will be on the roster if healthy. I don't think we will see either Rettke or Butler in the conversation since both will have only played a half pro season at that point. Unless both of them have stellar seasons right out of the gate, which is entirely possible so we'll have to wait and see. It will all depend on which league they land in.
For 2023 that will be the year that Karch will plug in any possible new players. I also think this is where the wave of retirements occurs, if it does at all.
In 2024 if we go with Larson and Akinradewo retired (due to winning a 2022 WCH Gold Medal 🥇 😉) I think you just plug in the next in line to replace them. I think we are fooling ourselves if anyone predicts it will be anyone other that Krob and Ogbogu.
So your 2024 Paris starting lineup could look something like this:
S: Poulter OH: MBH, Krob MB: Washington, Ogbogu OPP: Thompson L: Wong-Orantes
Bench:
S: Carlini OH: Plummer, SWP MB: Butler OPP: Drews

I do find it interesting how high Butler's stock seems to be even though we've seen nothing of her other than NCAA/non-A team stuff. And while she's a great blocker, as many Texas middles have been, what makes her The One we see as our next young middle?
Just curious as I've seen her mentioned in this thread and often in the thread on the women's board.
Not saying it's Rettke, but at least we've seen her potential at VNL. And her college team has invested time in her serving/playing back row.
