Zhu is THE reason China has an Olympic Gold (16), World Championship Bronze (18), and World Championship Silver (14). I don't think they have any real significant success this past decade without her.
Though I was glad to see China not make it out of pool play because who doesn't enjoy the upsets, but, it was sad to watch her struggle and see that she was giving it her all even when maybe she shouldn't have even been playing.

Yikes. She doesn't deserve this, but I'm glad we have freedom of speech here. I don't want her feelings to be hurt but this seems like it could be exploited in so many terrible ways...

I don't deny that China doesn't have freedom of speech, but the law cited doesn't match the crimes accused. There are anti-defamatory laws in other countries (that are liberal democracies) too which is what she's taking them to court for.

Maybe Karch should consider doing the same thing to some of his haters on here...

What type of defamation was occurring? I assumed it was subjective stuff about her being bad at volleyball and costing the team Gold. (Also false, but not defamation)

(Also false, but not defamation) rumors she is intentionally not getting along with teammates and coach. (I believe that's called being a diva)

rumors she is intentionally not getting along with teammates and coach. (I believe that's called being a diva) Yep, spreading rumours and stating that as a fact is defamation. The author has to KNOW the statement is false. I don’t know one way or the other about how Zhu is as a teammate. Spreading a rumor is almost never defamation. In the US at least. If I’m wrong, please provide some legal precedent.

And of course, the requirements for defamation varies by jurisdiction...

I do believe there is accountability when you spread rumors online in China. That’s why they require real name registration.
