CSU now alone at the top at 7-1. Go Rams! They have UNLV only once and it's at home in Fort Collins. I'll pick the Rams in that one with how they've been playing recently. But they still have road matches at NM, at Wyo, at Boise, and at Utah St. Could be dicey in the last half of the non-conference. The mwc tournament is what will determine who makes the NCAA tournament right? Not a huge fan of that.

Unfortunately this year it will be the MWC tourney that selects the autobid. So it's more wide open than it's ever been.

Wyo, USU, SJSU and CSU each pickup two wins this week, with the Rams hanging on to the lead in the conference race over USU. Three way tie for third between UNM, UNLV and SJSU.

I think UNLV should be doing much better in the MWC. After watching their loss against Boise State I canβt understand Coach Sullivanβs insistence on running a 6-2 system. Stay with one of the setters and ride Haydenβs arm in front and back row to an NCAA bid.

How many teams are going to the MWC Tournament? Is it 6 or 8? Six teams I believe Do you have a source on that? Just curious. The last time the Mountain West had a tournament in 2007, they included all nine schools. Edit: Apparently, the last tournament was in 2011. This is what I get for trusting the Mountain West's own press release.

Had to do some digging, but this is the only written confirmation I could find, but it has been mentioned on a few broadcasts during league play as well. www.abqjournal.com/2431128/unm-volleyball-has-vegas-trip-in-mind-as-mwc-schedule-begins.html"The top six regular-season finishers qualify for the MWC tournament, scheduled for Nov. 24-26 in Las Vegas, Nevada."

Okay, thanks for the information. So I guess the top two seeds would get byes into the semifinals, with the other four teams playing quarterfinals.

Right now there are only 5 teams over .500, and then 3 teams at exactly .500
Colorado St and Utah St would be 1 and 2, if the tournament started today.

Utah State wins in 5 over Boise IN Boise to stay in 2nd place
Rob Neilson could be a contender for COY, USU won only 2 games a couple of years ago?

With the teams beating each other up and probably out of getting an at large bid, it should be a heck of a conference tournament, because the teams are still pretty good and will be playing like everything is on the line.

Okay, thanks for the information. So I guess the top two seeds would get byes into the semifinals, with the other four teams playing quarterfinals. CSU's coach Hilbert has said as much at media events and his happy hour. Seeds 3 thru 6 will be competing on 11/24 for spots in the semis on 11/25. The last MWC tournament was actually in 2011. Eight teams played, and CSU won it in straight sets. Seems unlikely to be such a simple affair for the Rams this year.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they don't know their own history.
