Might seem a little early but club season is right around the corner and I thought I might start this thread off. Here my opinion on the current position 18s is in right now: 1. Both SAS and 352 will not compete for a medal next year at JOs. They are not physical enough 2. Should be a battle between B2B and MB Surf, maybe throw Rockstar and OCVC in there somewhere 3. USC and UCLA have the strongest recruiting classes by far 4. This could shape out to be the highest level of competition we've seen in a couple (2) years.
Please feel free to disagree with me

Please feel free to disagree with me Def agree with the first point, SAS and 352 sort of had a cinderella run, so not expecting them to medal this year. The addition of Hersh an extraordinary middle to B2B could definitely push them to the finals. I kind of disagree with Rockstar, I see OCVC and maybe MVVC up there. This will be an interesting nationals whether its held in Orlando or not.

How do you see rockstar competing with bay and surf? I mean they beat surf this year, but then again surf is going to be better next year. I guess you're right, my fault.

Shouldn't this be called 2021-22 AAU 18s Top Teams?

My pick has to B2B still, they choked BJNC. They were the heavy favorites going into it and nobody honestly expected any else to come close to them. They choked and thats it. Hersh in the MB1 position makes them clear favorites to take the 18Open title, and with there MB2 being also huge and exponentially better, I don’t see why they WOULDN’T be the favorites. Klein is great, but he isn’t going to beat B2B with how Surf is right now. Unless Rowan and Klein somehow team up, I don’t see B2B being in an unfavorable match up. However B2B and Surf seem to be the favorites with B2B favored. They have one hell of a line up
Hersh, Duross, Snoey, Wagner? And there new setter, Brouliette, who seems to be great for them with good size (6’4?) and there libero has always been solid. Oh and the 2nd middle who puts up quite the block

They lost 3 and one so happened to be on the first day……. yikes

For those in the area, did something happen with the 2020/2021 Rockstar 15's team? Everyone seems to rate the 16-18's teams really high and the 13's and 14' went undefeated at BJNC last year. However, Rockstar 15's didn't do well at BJNC or SCVA, and didn't do well when they played as 13's in the BJNC a couple of years before. Did they have a hole in their recruiting in that age group or did they play up a bunch of their 15's in the 16's and 17's?

I think you can put in OCVC as number 2 with Rowan and Sheveland. Also a dark horse could be AZ Fear because of Rama and Werner both moving down from a loaded 18s team last year.

I can definitely see AZ Fear compete with top 18s teams this year, Rama's addition really helps with their lack of a second consistent outside. It would be surprising if Rama moved to Aspire.

They seem to have a few solid players, but the launch of Pinnacle and their focus at that age group (seems to be their best age group) i think has taken a lot of the wind out of the sails of that age group. It happens, especially when young to have a developing age compared to others. On the flip side, if i remember right, OCVC used to have a pretty solid group at that age group a few years back but looking at SoCal Cup and JNC, I think some up their players (that i recognize) split up between 949 and Balboa.
