I'm just making an observation that with beach, you realistically travel more than a club player. You're in a new country from week to week, esp if you're trying to make the Olympics. Thus, it seems like you're trading one form of overseas travel for another Longer offseason, in another country for only a week at a time - not months, and the surface he is transitioning too is way healthier for his body in the long run. If he is financially set for his standards at this point in time, wants more family time will living in a beautiful place like HB, and still filling that need for a competitive drive who cares? Plus winning tourneys, gaining sponsorships, and going for another Olympic medal in a way less stressful environment seems pretty sweet. funny how he's already winning tourneys.....i'm not seeing this pairing as a guaranteed success. sand is a totally different game. and sander is an undersized blocker. crabb should've paired with budinger. sander should've hooked up with a blocker.

He was a top beach player when he was younger, it is not like he has zero sand experience - while there will be a learning curve I don't think it will take that long for him to get back into it. Obviously nothing is guaranteed but I don't understand how people want to harp on him being an undersized blocker....maybe in the Olympic/Professional indoor game but he is the same size as Tri Bourne, Trevor Crabb and Cherif Younousse, so it is possible that he can have success. Also there seems to be a pretty clear indication that the Crabbs and Budingers do not like each other so we will probably never see that happen. Sander has absolutely zero international points so hooking up with a blocker not named Phil or Jake is not going to bode well for his chances at Paris. But if it fails I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to move to defense and picks up a guy like Benesh or Budinger.

Wow so quick to say… I’m actually really excited for this pairing and can’t wait to watch them play. I mean there aren’t many pairs that can potentially qualify for Paris if you think about it.

I hate the title of this thread. agreed, even if he no longer plays indoor it is far from the end of his career, if he figures out the game I think it is natural that he would move to a defender and maybe even try to recruit a big away from the indoor game or one of the new bigs improves out on the beach.

Would Taylor Sander be able to regain his spot indoor if he doesn't qualify? I mean, he would have two+ years to try and if they don't make it, couldn't he train with the indoor team again? I think this is a great move for Taylor Sander.

That door would be shut tight until AFTER Paris. No coach or team would accept that situation of trying to walk back into the team. But by that time, not playing indoor for 3 years, it would take a bit of time to regain what would be left of a high level career. Not impossible though. Sander is moving in a different direction. I wish he didn't make this move as I think he still has 3 years of high level play and earning power left.

I think Taylor’s got great potential on the beach. He’ll probably play with crab for a year and realize he’s be better suited as a defensive player.
Does anyone know where I can watch TJ Defalco’s play from when he recently teamed up with Nick Lucena? I think it may have been the Manhattan open. Thanks

quick question,
does this mean that taylor won't be able to participate for the men's indoor national team?
