Impressive weekend for Omaha! As a Yotes fan I’m hoping we start matching that level of play soon, or we will be in trouble. That’s what the non-conference is for, I suppose.

One more weekend of non-conference play should determine the RPI potential of this conference. Generally speaking the top teams (USD, Denver, KC, Omaha) have shown strength. Omaha might be the most impressive so far, with my South Dakota looking like they have potential and talent, but aren't yet ready for the big stage. Growing pains and inconsistency. They have a big opportunity coming up in the Wichita State tournament vs WSU, Creighton and Wyoming.
I'm also impressed by the middle tier teams of North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Oral Roberts. The gap may be closing between them and the top group somewhat, and growing between the middle and bottom tiers.
St Thomas (UST) has been better than expected in their first season post-D-III, and with a couple of years of D-1 recruiting, I'd expect them to continue to rise the ranks each year. They are located in an ideal recruiting location for VB.

The top 6 in this conference should sweep the bottom 4, and it's possible the top 4 could sweep the bottom 6, although as you pointed out the mid tier is stronger. Whomever emerges from Denver, Omaha, South Dakota, and Kansas City will be battle tested and it will be an interesting race.

One more weekend of non-conference play should determine the RPI potential of this conference. The non-conference record of the league now sits at 41-42 (.494). IMO this makes it very unlikely they will be more than a one-bid conference again this year.

I am going to wander over to St. Thomas once or twice this season to catch some Summit League action. Thanh is a good coach. He will have St. Thomas playing competitively in the conference by the 2023 season.

I'm going to try and do the same if for no other reason than to satisfy my curiosity and show some love for the State's second D1 school. Also curious to see how the talent fares and to see what the future holds.
