I was wondering why there were only a few teams listed... Turns out they're going back to how it was in previous years. Top 8 per gender get in automatically through the World Rankings and then they award 2 wildcards. This means it's a good payout. It will be Round Robin pool play + Single Elimination. en.volleyballworld.com/en/beachvolleyball/worldtour/2021/mita2021/men/teamsinfo/entriesbycountryPerusic/Schweiner (Czech Republic) Nicolai/Lupo (Italy) Brouwer/Meeuwsen (Netherlands) Mol/Sorum (Norway) Kantor/Losiak (Poland) Cherif/Ahmed (Qatar) Krasilnikov/Stoyanovskiy (Russia) Crabb/Gibb (USA) Wildcards to be announced.

Here Nicolai/Lupo at #9 seem to have leapfrogged Varenhorst/Van de Velde at #8 in the world rankings.

That list of teams could be a, which one is not like the others puzzle. How is it possible Cribb are on that list? Did a bunch of teams decide not to play? Their finishes this year are terrible. Even with typical FIVB entry math that doesn't seem good enough to get them into an event like this. Comparing them to the first three teams I thought of that were not included: (All these results are from Doha, Cancun, Sochi or Ostrava - some teams didn't play all of them) Cribb: 3, 9, 9, 17, 17, 25 Alison: 3, 5, 5, 5, 17, 17 Semenov: 2, 5, 5, 5, 9, 9 Adrian: 4, 4, 5, 25, Im sure there any more other teams with more points and better finishes, these were just three randomly chosen.

Hi, I'm new here.
I just noticed some changes: Krasilnikov/Stoyanovskiy are out, the other Russian team is in. Kantor/losiak are out, Varenhorst/ is in (no wildcard). Plavins/Tocs (Latvia) got a wildcard.

They seem to be going by the world rankings pretty closely with the exception that one wild card goes to the best remaining Italian team. T2 is currently tied with Varenhorst/van de Velde at #10, so I imagine they’d likely get the call if another team drops out.

Seems silly to skip this event with so much prize money on the line. If it’s the same prize money as 2018, last place finishers (9th) get $7500 as a team and winning team gets $150,000. I mean how many 4* events do you have to win to get $150k? 7.5 events.

Wildcards: Carambula/Rossi (Italy) Varenhorst/van de Velde (Netherlands) Aren't T2 and the Dutch tied? And the Dutch played more events? How could an event organizer possibly choose Van de Velde over any other team on tour with other things being equal? Whats that old baseball aphorism, "tie goes to the rapist?"
