That actually went outside the pin? Guess not. Pretty clear the ball was outside the pin…..like with a baseball & the foul pole, if you see the ball as it crosses and not the pole it’s out. Isn’t that the same down ref who got a replay call wrong against Baylor…..and in Minnesota the night before this one? Might be time for that guy to go back to doing rec league games……

Last night's performance is why I haven't voted Wisconsin so high in the polls the past few weeks. They're fragile. They need to show me that passing can hold up and they can respond when other teams make adjustments.

It's a bad suggestion. She stayed with her Polish school's team (Stezyca) instead of training with the pro club (which she can do as an amateur) she grew up with (Legionovia) for that reason.

Yeah, there is still a bit of fragility about the badgers. Last night felt a little like the beginning of 2019, except not as bad -- it didn't cascade to the point where they started losing sets. I think that lineup last night without Orzol was a bit more fragile than last weekend. There were more holes in passing and D formations, and there was a bit of inexperience with Demps. Last weekend it really felt like the court was always covered, last night there seemed to be big gaps. Maybe they weren't reading quite as well.
I also think that Dayton really began to find themselves in this match. The lineup is solidifying and they are getting comfortable, so it isn't all the badgers. I expect they will be competitive from the get go. If they start tooling the block effectively, it will be a long night. The badger block has to be better.
My guess is that Orzol is still nursing that ankle injury from the summer, and Sheffield wants to see different looks while giving her a little rest. The kid has barely had a break, she just showed up in the US, and she will have to get used to college life this week.

Arias just said she was resting. I agree it's probably just that.

What's with all the conspiracy theories?
If it's a medical issue, there is no obligation to discuss. Actually, for any reason.

Whether it is just non-conference lineup experimentation (like happened a bunch in the spring, during conference matches) or something else, we'll get a really good indication in seven hours. Until then, idle speculation is pretty pointless.

Sheffield pregame Demps: Still young and developing. Gifted. Can do some good things. Still learning what they want from her Changes from last night: Adjustments to defense. Adjust on offense to counter Peterson jumping in on the quick. Students: 1500 kids came to match. They were very loud. Best student showing that he's seen. Lifts energy of whole building. Wants to see if they will allow him crowd surf.
White pregame Lessons from last night: really can overwhelm teams offensively when they are on as they were at the beginning. But they find holes in the D as the match wore on. They want to get stronger defensively as the match wears on. THey moved around the serve as the match wore on. They also passed better as the match wore on. UW serves has too much air under them, and hit libero too often. Libero passed a 2.7 (!!).

Orzol not warming up tonight. Not playing. No explanation given.
That said, I expected her not to play after not playing last night.

my brain is trying to process a mental picture of Sheffield crowdsurfing.
