I don't see USC beat UCLA this year. UCLA is way too good at every pairs. I thought that last season soooo I’m not thinking that now.

I don't see USC beat UCLA this year. UCLA is way too good at every pairs. Well it just happened so see for yourself On another note, excellent broadcast by USC as always. I'm particularly impressed by the commentators. Anyone know who they are? Most likely USC Athletics or Media staff or interns but they are very knowledgeable about the sport, the girls, and all the records/history/postseason. They even brought up Newberry and Whitmarsh's podcast. Definitely refreshing to have someone do their homework when commentating. I was spectating by the streaming team for much of the day. The engineers and camera operators were professionals and maybe the commentators were as well but they looked like grad students or maybe undergrads. Glad to hear everyone did a good job. AD Cohen and the athletic dept spending a bit to support probably the most successful USC sports program in the past 10 years.

Seems like UCLA’s earlier match might have prepped them better for the USC match as they won 4 out of 5 first sets, including a massacre against Kriz/White. Great comebacks though for pairs 2-4. Errors were reduced and the Trojans got a lot of blocks today. Got blocked a lot as well. 😝
Seits/Pater continue to roll at the 4s. Nourses and Kraft/Maple also played outstanding ball today. Will the coaches go back to Thomas/Goellner at the 5s?
Looking forward to PAC-12 Championships next week.

Double elim in Pac 12s but it's single elimination in NCAAs Just want to add some wrinkles to that…. Reminder that Stanford and Cal knocked UCLA and USC out of the winner’s bracket last year. Certainly have the potential this year though Stanford is the much bigger threat than Cal this year. Getting the #1 Seed will be much more important to avoid Stanford early. If Stanford beats the #2 seed, then USC and UCLA will only face each other at most once in the tourney. Also, this will not be a pure double elimination as winner’s bracket winner does not get a second chance if they lose in the Finals. Now how will the conference seed the teams? Stanford has the least losses, but is ranked lower in the polls. I suspect the conference decision makers will look at records in the two official PAC-12 tournaments. USC and UCLA did not play each other in those. Stanford beat UCLA, but lost to USC. Stanford also had that odd loss to ASU, the host of the South Tourney. Records in the two conference tournaments: USC 7-0 UCLA 6-1 Stanford 6-2 As a side note: Could ASU’s home crowd during the PAC-12 Championships boost the Sun Devils to get an upset or two? It helped ASU beat Stanford at ASU. LSU’s crowd helped the Tigers beat USC at LSU.

While I wasn’t near Court 3, from what I did see, Phillips and Fitzner played quite well in the 6s match against LMU. I had never seen Fitzner play before and she surprised me with her beach skills.

I don't see USC beat UCLA this year. UCLA is way too good at every pairs. That makes zero sense. I get hating on SC since it’s a common theme from UCLA fans but they have mostly went 3-2 against decent teams. It’s a toss up at best and will come down to who ever is prepared for GS. Honestly if the SC 5’s pair is right I’d argue the 4 peat is more likely than the Bruins getting the W.

Not sure about your 3-2 v decent teams but agree on the other points. Ps: I’ll be in GS looking for redemption.
