There are several US teams in Italy this week playing the Cervia 1 Star
On the women’s side Cannon/Turner won two qualifier matches to get into the main draw and went 1-1 in pool play. They play their first elimination bracket match tomorrow.
Schermerhorn/Muno were the top seed in the qualifier and lost their first match in straight sets. Not sure what happened there.
On the men’s side, Logan Webber is playing with Michael Boag and advanced to the main draw with two qualifier wins. (Side note: are you paying attention, TKN?). Webber/Boag then lost their first main draw pool play match to Troy Field and Miles Evans, who are the 4 seed. Both teams complete pool play tomorrow.
Haven’t seen any live streams yet. Please post if you find any.

If TKN has Olympics aspirations, now is the time to start going to these 1 star events to get some points.

Somehow I missed noticing that Travis and Adam also played in this event. They were direct into the main draw but lost both their pool play matches. Travis does have video of their matches on the Sandcast YouTube page.

I hope they are able to turn the trip into a vacation at least.

They basically have no points but got in as a qualifier wild card. They’re obviously good, but not particularly young at ages 25 and 31. Maybe they are indoor players? Too bad the US can’t do something similar for TKN. How much could it possibly cost to put on a 1 Star here?

They are playing next week in the Netherlands (first quali seed, at the moment). They'll have another opportunty to take a positive result from this trip. For Muno at least, even this bad result is useful (it adds some points). She will be entering next season with 4 finishes and if they get a good result next week, she could be in a relatively good positionn among those who had to rely in 1*s to their point buildup (in other words, everybody that coukd not enter in 4*s). This year was better than 2020, but it wasn't even a half-season.

Also noticed Reka Orsi Toth playing in this event (lost to that same Italian qualifying team in the quarterfinals).
Is she still at LMU, where classes have already started? If so, why is she allowed to play when other NCAA beach players are not allowed to play other events while school is in session?

The final will be Cannon/Turner vs They/Breidenbach (Italy) I wasn't able to find any stream for this. While I was at it I found what seems to be the channel of Dutch Volleyball ( www.youtube.com/c/volleybal/videos) They are streaming the other 1* going on this week over there (starting on quarterfinals). Seems very likely that they'll stream next week event as well.
Speaking of next week, I may be able to attend the other 1* event in Madrid. I'll share my impressions if I finally go there.

When you are “representing your country” aka FIVB, you are allowed to compete in the season. This is why Tina was allowed to compete in Cancun in the middle of USC’s season and school semester

I know Megan Kraft played Brno a couple weeks ago. Does it come down to funding?
