It’ll probably be all of Brazil and whoever decides to make the trip.

Also it may be a good opportunity for teams who normally wouldn’t be able to get into a 4 Star to earn some decent points.

On top of that it could be the first outing for some new teams!

I could be wrong, but I was trying to say that I don’t expect many top teams to go. Many have already started their offseason so they might not make the trip.

Will points still be a thing? Will it be based on points initially but some sort of soccer model where a team that was in a 4 star but gets last gets relegated to a 3 star while the winner of a 3 star can go up to a 4 star?

My guess is that this event is considered part of the 2021 season (since it was postponed) and will likely be the last event under the current star system. Hopefully whenever the 2022 schedule is announced they’ll also unveil a new tier system and Olympic qualification details for Paris.

I can't imagine that the FIVB will drastically change their system. I just don't see much innovation within that governing body. I expect a reduction to 3 different categories (1* - 3* events or something similar), but for sure the point system will remain in place. There aren't simply enough (big) tournaments which would be required to make such a league system work.
