If Barnes can’t deal with that, she really is a problem. I assume she can deal with that. My point is that he shouldn’t be messing with a back row that was playing at an incredibly high level prior to the NIU match, and for whatever reason wasn’t that great last night. He treated Maryland like a non-con opponent and tinkered with the OH position and got burned unnecessarily. Seriously, the same players played. They did so is somewhat different proportions. It is not a big deal. It had zero effect on last night's match.

I was reading the live stats, and they said 25 because they added up the BAs and the SBs. A block assist is a half-block. So 20 BAs means ten balls blocked. Yeah I know, I was just pointing out that the live stats calculated total blocks wrong.

The fact is that this lineup only started for the first time against Green Bay and ISU. They looked OK against those two teams - some promising performances, but also sometimes a bit of a struggle. This was a step up in intensity on the road with a crowd they haven't seen in forever and they didn't handle it well. Only Rettke played to standards. The play in the back looked confused when it hasn't to date.
It will be interesting to see how they do against Rutgers.

Watched the match and based on the announcers comments:
Wisconsin came into the match with 60 missed serves. Maryland came into the match one of the top blocking teams in the country. Rainelle Jones led the NCAA in blocks/set. All proved crucial in the Maryland upset.
Wisconsin missed 17 serves to only three for Maryland. Jones was a blocking machine with 11 for the match, four solo. And the little 5'9" Latvian Paula Neciporuka did a nice job from the pin. She is a graduate student and transfer from VCU. Appears to be a very good beach player having won the 18U European beach championships back in 2015. The 15 kills against Wisconsin tied for her 2021 high for kills.

It does, but it felt like the Badgers tempted fate a little. This was the Rettke from the 2019 finals. I remember watching that match and literally forgetting that she was playing. Can't win em all,

The exception to the stat, is the trap set ball that the attacker is going to be blocked regardless of what they do with it. What about when a hitter swings, it gets blocked, but that block does not result in a point? Still "should" count as a negative hit for the hitter?
