Anyone attending the Myrtle Beach tourney this weekend? Wife and I will be in the area, interested in checking out any local spots. Thanks!

How in the heck did we not know this would be so well attended, especially with an only $1000 payout for 1st place? And how can Benesh, even if his partner is not high-level, play in the AA division?

Because it's for the love of the game, he is probably playing with a buddy who is not a good player, he's going to drink some beers and get loose, and not have to worry about playing at the highest level. This isn't an AVP so why not goof around with one of your boys and enjoy a good time rather than trying hard knowing you might get rolled because the guy you want to play with is not at that level.

I get that, but I guess my real question was whether the tournament director or whoever could stop someone from sandbagging if they wanted to? Don't know how that all works!

Is the Zaun playing with Vaughn related to Eric? I know Vaughn played with Eric a few times so I am guessing maybe a brother?

Sure, of course they could, that's what a TD is for. But is anyone really going to care if Andy is 15 beers deep and playing with his left hand or something goofy like that? Now, if he is out there balling' against a bunch of other AA players completely sober as if it was an AVP quarterfinal - sure some people may be like wtf. But I have a feeling looking at the entry list and who others are paired up with, that this is just a good ole' fashion fun weekend.

I’m playing in it. This is definitely more of a “fun tournament” for the avp dudes except for Adam and his partner. For everyone else a chance to take a crack at a main draw guy. I’d love to see someone knock off Adam and Tri, and there are a few teams hat definitely could (Dache/Samuels, Groselle/VDM, Connors/Greiner, Kwekel/Miller, Vaughan, or Knight/Albrecht being the most likely).

Thanks for replies. Entertaining list of players for sure, eager to see what the matchups will be. Dache and Samuels are ballers, will be great to see how they do with the top AVP guys.

He did manage to knock off Adam and Trevor last year at this event.

I've been a tournament director for 12 years; I don't care if the event is "for funzies" or "for serious", I wouldn't let Benesh play below Open

I've been a tournament director for 12 years; I don't care if the event is "for funzies" or "for serious", I wouldn't let Benesh play below Open Benesh probably signed up after the cutoff date for open which is why he’s playing AA. So then as the TD you either have to kick somebody who rightfully should be in open, or tell Andy he can’t play period. I think a conversation with Andy of “you better not win AA” and allowing him to play is the correct approach given the parameters.
