Looks like Notre Dame shared more than a couple of wins after the two met twice last week.

Looks like Notre Dame shared more than a couple of wins after the two met twice last week. Seriously? If Norte Dame had the secrets to defeating Ohio State I think the would have told their own players instead of getting spanked twice. OSU was able to catch some teams off guard last spring, but some of the best minds in college volleyball are in the B1G in general and at Purdue and PSU specifically. I’ve said repeatedly OSU will face more focused B1G teams this fall. . . They still have some elite players and a very good coaching staff and they will adjust. . That’s why this conference is so good. . . Gonna be a great season. . .

Cool story about the super awesome incredible and unbeatable B1G

OSU had an amazing season in the spring, but all those close matches fell their way and this year they have to do it with actual expectations and the full attention of the league.

So which was it -- unfair schedule for el OSU (crocodile tears here) or Penn State hyped-up by revenge energy from last season? How about instead we just say Penn State outplayed Ohio State, albeit narrowly, so they won, and when they go to Ohio State, perhaps the tables will be turned, but not because of the schedule or last season or the moon being in the seventh house. Just how they play. Screw that. When the Nuts beat the puddycats in the past we were showered with every possible excuse. You can’t come back and cry foul the other way. PSU beat them fair and square… but that was a brutal opening schedule and no one is surprised that the Nuts had nothing in the tank after that grinder like 40 hours and 500+ mikes traveled later. I absolutely think the schedule and travel was a factor. Later in the season, PSU will play @ Neb on Fri and then @ OSU on Sun, so it will even out with these teams. The schedule and travel associated is a huge factor, but elite teams have to take it and make due. I think the increased variety to the schedule favors Penn State much more than the old Fri/Sat schedule which in recent years had PSU paired with Rutgers every weekend. Can you imagine having your weekend schedule be Rutgers and Penn State? Any guesses how you might spend your time preparing? Same with Nebraska/Iowa. Most teams were already giving Neb and PSU their best shot, and the schedule made sure of it. OSU will also now have to deal with pressure, expectations, and getting focused teams ready to take them down. I’m sure they will figure it out.

OSU will also now have to deal with pressure, expectations, and getting focused teams ready to take them down. I’m sure they will figure it out. In general, I agree with this completely. But it's interesting to note that Ohio State actually arrived in State College after its match with Purdue on Friday (1 hr. 30 minute travel time via charter) before Penn State returned to State College after its match at Rutgers on Friday (a 3 hour 30 minute bus ride from New Jersey). So there's travel and there's travel. Another key point (which I didn't articulate well, but you did) is that with the B1G schedule as currently constituted, things balance out better than in the past. I alluded to that by saying that when Penn State visits OSU, the result may be reversed. Another key point is that to succeed in the B1G, you not only have to win your home matches, you have to avoid getting upset by "lesser" teams on the road -- like happened to Wisconsin at Maryland. I think Wednesday's match against Maryland is a classic "trap" match for Penn State. The Nittany Lions had better bring their "A" game.

OSU had an amazing run last spring. They won the most B10 matches (15-3) since the Jim Stone era. They improved and grew over the season.
Per article "Penn State improved to 51-18 in the all-time series against Ohio State." uh, Not a lot of sweeps by the Bucks in there. I think maybe they won 2 or 3 times at Penn State in the last 20 years. Before the season, I had them at 3 losses at this point. Road matches against good teams are tough. OSU is a good team that needs to improve. I think we are one of the top 6 teams in the Big Ten. I hope the team thinks it's better than that. The schedule is the schedule. Not gonna whine about it.

For me, this match will determine where this Buckeye team really is. OSU controlled Penn State on both occasions last year. Penn State appears better this season with all-league pin attackers. Sunday is the match I’m waiting for! Didn’t OSU win first match 3-2? Not sure “controlled” PSU is the right way to put that.

Really glad to see Adanna have such a strong match. She was interviewed on BTN after the match and seemed really happy. Keep rolling, Adanna, except maybe not quite so much when you play the Gophers!

Seems strange you would respond to a post that did not claim what you want to believe it did. I posted Norte Dame got “spanked”, not OHio State… you need to calm/“settled” down and make honest posts, not dishonest posts out of frustration because your team got beat…twice. Sorry 🏐 #lostWeekend4theBucks

Just popping in here, uninvited, to suggest there was a lot of early OSU hype based on their "upset" of Washington.
But out here in the upper left granola-eatin', Birkenstock-wearin', MSNBC-watchin', Bernie-votin', Whole-Foods-shoppin', Prius-drivin', Prine-lovin', solar-panel-roofin', almost-Canada parts we realize that Washington was/is a team with a lot of "issues."
Have a nice week!
