Pepperdine is getting rolling now in set 3. Ahrens had a very slow start with only 1 kill in set 1, but now is up to 14 kills in the match, with 6 so far in this third set.
Santa Clara took Sangiacomo out and put in Spaar, but it's not working. Pepperdine is on a roll and up to 12-4 before SCU finally scores again from the middle. 12-5 Pepperdine.

Pepperdine has really cleaned things up. Passing, setting are crisper, and they are pounding balls in system. Serving much tougher this set, and now SCU is struggling to serve receive. Pepperdine running away with the set, now up 17-10...17-11. TO Pepperdine.

Santa Clara is coming back to life late in the third set. Pepperdine leads 22-17. TO Pepperdine.
Tulino leads all hitters with 18 kills at .464 Ahrens has 17 kills at .303.
Out of the timeout, Ahrens scores her 18th kill and Pepp leads 23-17.
This will go 4 or 5, but regardless, we were all wrong on the poll. haha

Santa Clara is out blocking Pepperdine in this match 10.5 to 5, even though they have only one player over 6 feet. (Sangiacomo is 6'5.). The middles are 5'11. Other pins are 6' and 5'10. That's a short blocking team. Pepp must be hitting right above the net (and perhaps the setting is too predictable?)
Set 4: Santa Clara is up 10-7

Name is escaping me right now. Shaffer is a great blocker for her size!

19-17 Santa Clara. TO Pepperdine.
Tulino has 22 kills at .441. Great match for her. Sometimes she kind of disappears, and it's all Sangiacomo and Shaffer. It seems like Pepperdine prepared blocking and defense for Sangiacomo and have pretty much shut her down today.

Pepp regains the lead at 23-22. TO SCU.
The blocking fascinates me because Pepperdine's hitters are 6'3 - 6'4', and that's a substantial height difference over Santa Clara. SCU currently has 13.5 blocks to Pepperdine's 6. SCU has 10 aces to Pepp's 2 aces
Pepperdine 24-22...trending toward a fifth set.
Shaffer kill makes it 24-23

You do realize that Santa Clara was up 2-0 and now we are going to a fifth set?? Chillingworth kill off the block for a Pepperdine 25-23 fourth set. So far 25-21, 27-25, 21-25, 23-25.... very tight match
