Wags is making nice improvements. Akana quiet but getting the job done. She’s a nice option when In the front. This team isn’t perfect, but they have what it takes. Robyn always knows how to pull these girls together. They just have to take care of business to win the league. Someone in the Pac 12 will be seeded. The teams are beating up on each other but pretty good. The Wahine just have to be good enough to win the league and face one of those teams in the second round while playing well.

Hawaii is always scary to play in the tournament for a seeded team. They always play hard in the tournament and show why they belong. Play solid throughout the league. Get that third seed for their first and second rounds and things will fall in place.

Offensively the beach need to get their middles involved. Minus bacon and their block, the middles were an absolute non factor at all.
They will struggle without getting them involved

Yeah, but it may be against a double digit seed for once, which would make it a bit easier.

One of the best things about tonight's match was that the Wahine hitters had BVS's back, while she figured out how LBSU was defensing her. Once BVS figured it out, it was all over for LBSU.

Fun match to watch for Hawaii fans. I understand the frustration from Long Beach fans. Williams is an absolutely amazing athlete. Probably the most physical outside hitter in the conference and someone who has the ability to dominate a match. If you look at the stats, her hitting percent wasn't great but her kill percent is .400. So it's either feast or famine. If she brings up her hitting percent, she can be incredibly dangerous, as San Diego found out. Also really impressed by Lovett. She has such a great game and she may be in the hunt for Freshman of the year.
As others have mentioned, this is the game we were looking for Wagoner. She doesn't need to be the go to player, but just a player to make solid hitting choices and not be timid. And Akana is doing what the team needs. 2+ kills a game on a good hitting percent. First time I really get to see Lang and I really like her setting choices. Seems she has a better connection with the hitters than Bryd. But waiting to see more as teams scout her a little more.
Negatives for Hawaii is serving. Floaters look like they lost a little bite to them and the team had some service errors at inopportune times. The Big West race is starting to take shape and every match counts so I do expect them to clean that up a bit.

Sky Williams is finally playing like a Senior, be it a Covid Senior. Now Robyn can say the Wahine have 2 legit Middles, both offensively and defensively.

Honestly the credit for a .349 hit percentage has to be given to 1. The passers 2. The consistency of the set locations. When the sets are consistent, the hitters just get to hit and not worry about spraining their ankles on low, tight, inside trap sets or sets drifting 7 feet off the net. Thanks Lang!

Yes, Robyn's starting lineup is on the shorter side, excluding the Middles, then other D1 teams. But on the plus side, Robyn does have height on the bench if she ever needs to go to it.

watching the post match show - LBSU had 19 hitting errors, 12 by Williams alone.
Hawaii’s key to match was to slow her down, and I think they did more than slow her down, they frustrated her. She’s legit a great player, but when she is always relied on, that can get frustrated. LBSU has other options, I think their setter needs to have confidence in the other players and not just one.

Williams led the conference in hitting and averaged over a block per set. Her dismal showing early this season was due to Byrd's setting (and the passing). On another note, Wagoner took some confident swings even when out of system. Impressed with her performance.

Kashauna is a beast. She is the Beach's ride-or-die. Both Bacon and Lovett are the future who are showing up now, but the person they needed to get more involved in is Kadi Kennedy. She has been a steady eddy this season. Tonight, she did not get the number of sets she usually gets. The Beach cannot be one or two-dimensional, scouting will be easy as pie.

Cheryl Weaver/Tayyiba Haneef vs. Kim Willoughby/Lily Kahumoku (I know, I'm 20 years behind.) Where can I find the video of the match at the Pyramid?
