The Wahine need to learn how to put teams away when they have them on the ropes.

A win is a win is a win. Take it and run with it. Agreed. Hawaii didn't have their best defensive game but they did enough to win!

Also, rude! Doesn't Irvine know there is a televised Badger match at 7 pm Central tomorrow? They could have had the match at 7 pm Pacific time, which seems normal, to help with my volleyball viewing!

I know Kate Lang is still learning Robyn's style of setting but I really wish she would had dumping/attacking on 2 into her repertoire. Maybe it would hold some blockers and open some seams for the hitters.

Good Win. The Wahine need to learn how to put teams away, not let them back into sets. It cost them against USC, and almost cost them in this match.
Thank you BVS and especially Riley Wagoner for having a BIG Match.
Expecting when UCSD comes to the SSC that match will not be close.

How did Hawaii win that third set?!?! Totally crazy. Girls were playing great most of set 4 but some ugly passes kept UCSD close.

Thinking, Robyn needs to bring in a Sports Psychologist to talk with this Wahine team, before the Wahine team drives Robyn insane with their Up and Down play.

Very interesting match. UCSD doesn't seem like the typical Big West team but to be honest, I can't really figure out why. They have a couple of great freshman middles, and typically Big West teams are known for their back court defense than a big presence at the net. But Cal Poly and UCSB has had great middle tandems recently, and of course, Long Beach has a history of great middles. So it might be a perception bias on me, but it just didn't feel like a typical Big West match. But Hawaii did get outblocked in the match. UCSD had great pins and a fairly balanced attack. Just felt like a really solid all around team. So it might be a bit surprising they took so many loses in the preseason, but I guess that is attributed to the lost 2020 season.
I think this is great prep for Hawaii against UCSB. UCSD was well balanced and Hawaii did a pretty good job keeping the hitters in check. Great seeing Wagoner rebound after that tough match against Fullerton. And it was good seeing Westerberg getting some time at the right. She didn't hit well, but you can see the power and potential behind her swings. I would like to see Ikenaga get a bit faster in her movement. She did great but there were a few balls she reached for that she could have gotten but got there just late. But I think as a freshman, she will continue to develop further and get better at getting those shots.
This match is a reason I really like the Big West. Teams believe they can win against Hawaii and it's not a boring conference season. Obviously I want Hawaii to win, but good teams need to develop in order for the conference to get better.
