FFS CU....seems like they all respond to adversity by getting depressed and mopey and playing 10x worse. Exception Ewert and to some extent DeLuzio. Makes you wonder the players feelings on Clayton being removed from the team. Me too...and how much is whether they agree with it and how much is they just miss her playing.  |

I mean, the team is now without 3 starters from what they expected at the beginning of the season. Can't blame them too much for needing time to get used to the new personnel. Hopefully they can get it together before it's too late. Still have a number of nice pieces, but connections and who-covers-what is a bit of an issue.

The new DS, Riddle, has single-handedly lost 10-12 points for CU with her shanks and overpasses. Not good if you are supposed to be specially trained to dig/pass balls and the other team is picking on you instead of a pin hitter. Ugh.

LOL at myself. I've been wondering why the 5th set hasn't started. I saw that Colorado got 25 in the second set and somehow didn't notice that USC won that set 27-25.

USC hangs in there.
Colorado literally just needed to pass a few more serve-receives to make it a 5-setter (or even win it). There were 4 CU hitters that hit over .250 in the match (just 2 for USC), but shanks and very poor passes means the other team gets kills. USC had A LOT of chances to get kills.
With how new and green the Colorado OH's are and a new OPP, I felt Colorado kept up nicely to USC's experienced pins.
Colorado had better floor defense. USC had better overall offense with more kills.
USC had a better serving and knew to serve Colorado deep and fast.
The team on the floor now for Colorado has a lot of potential and ceiling to get better (especially offense), and USC has met a lot of that ceiling already.
