Really not understand administration hiring. Coaching journey ? It’s a lot of coaches out there with way more experience and knowledge but good luck to them . I get having an experienced player on staff to play against the team, but this seems a bit of a stretch.

Call it a personal blind spot but I have never understood why former players get so many coaching opportunities simply because they played at the D1 level.... and why it is often a required or preferred qualification on applications ... maybe another thread could debate this, or maybe it's just me

Some great clubs you need to have certain experience or qualifications to coach top teams .

Many coaches like to have a young assistant who can emulate the best attacker from each of the opponents so that that team can get an idea of what they are facing next. A friend of mine played on the Chinese NT before he blew out a knee. He was playing this role in practice as an assistant well into his 40's. He was a hell of a coach too. Many programs have student managers or the men's club teams come in to play that role.

And if those more experienced coaches expected more than minimum wage, you get a higher like this. That said, this position made Allie Matters and Simone Asque head coaches so if you are willing to work a second job or do what is necessary for a few years, it can certainly pay off.

Absolutely -- odd they would use an Asst Coaching spot for that role -- sounds like more of a volunteer/GA role -- can't imagine that will be her primary/only role

Any coach with experience can't afford to take the pay. So often times that is why they hire a coach with so little experience....because that is what they can afford. I dont know Seton Halls pay for a 2nd assistant, but I am willing to guess it is pretty low (especially for where it is located). Just something to think about.

FYI said player turned assistant played at D2 Angelo State and then 1 year at D1 Louisiana Monroe. I don’t think she is replicating the top outsides at Creighton or Marquette.

I think y’all are WAY overestimating what the applicant pool for a Seton Hall second assistant looks like.

I think y’all are WAY overestimating what the applicant pool for a Seton Hall second assistant looks like. Especially in May. In January? Different applicant pool, most likely.
