Alabama plays in the SEC. One of the top 3 or 4 volleyball conferences in the country. You can't win at Alabama. Not at a level that you will keep your job. Volleyball facilities are SEC subpar. State club volleyball has improved, but not a hotbed (trust me that makes a difference - just ask Ole Miss and Miss State). They don't invest in the program at the same levels of other conference schools. I will predict that Vandy will have success quicker than Alabama. I disagree about not being able to win at Alabama. Basically an unlimited budget, every bell and whistle you can possibly imagine, and Tuscaloosa is a pretty cool town. I'd think Bama is a better job than South Carolina, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Yet those three have made the tournament recently. And yes, Vandy will be an easier place to win than all of those if funded appropriately. This. Alabama should have no problem being competitive.

No word about Gonzaga having an asst. coach opening. Is this indicative that they have someone specific they are trying to head hunt?

I'm so curious as to what the heck happened at Alabama. Lindsey was successful at ETSU and had a pretty long run there. I don't remember there being a lot of transfers and turmoil there...but maybe I just missed it? For there to be so many transfers at Alabama in such a short time makes me wonder what happened. Did she change? Her coaching style changed? I don't know. Just makes me scratch my head. Alabama plays in the SEC. One of the top 3 or 4 volleyball conferences in the country. Ed was there for 8 years and had two particularly good years (years 3 and 4) where he was 24-10 and 26-8 overall. Never finished over 4th in conference (once). Overall record was 152-101 and 66-77 in SEC. He quit before end of 2018 season.

Breitbarth takes on the role of assistant coach while Smith will serve as a graduate assistant coach. "I am thrilled to have Matt and Jamie on staff as we make headway into what will be an exciting season," Agu said. "Matt is a phenomenal up-and-coming coach with National Championship experience as a player, and has been immersed in a number of high-level gyms throughout his career. Manhattan finally announced today. Mauro Miletic, who was an assistant there from 2014-16. Sounds like his current gig was being a gym teacher at a charter school.

WOW! Wow Wow Wow. That is an unimpressive hire. No offense to this guy, but I thought Walsh could get a more experienced coach than that. It's not a terrible job; I'm very surprised. I wonder if people turned it down and this is what they had to go with, just a few days away from pre-season.
