I think there are more than a few coaches who are ready to call it quits now they've guided their programs through COVID and have returned them to some form of normality. Is what we have normality? Remember that we are still wrestling with the logjam of players due to the COVID year eligibility rules. Maybe they just want to get out of Dodge as the effects of that goes through the system. Compared to what they dealt with in 20-21? I'd say yeah. As for the logjam, I think it's going to work itself out pretty quickly.

Remember that we are still wrestling with the logjam of players due to the COVID year eligibility rules. Maybe they just want to get out of Dodge as the effects of that goes through the system. The new normality? At least we are playing in the fall this time I think some coaches who might have thought about retirement didn't know what to do with 2020-21 and didn't want that to be their last experience. I think some coaches didn't want to leave their teams in the lurch with the short offseason. I think some coaches are not sure what to do with the portal, and NIL, and COVID protocols and wonder if it's worth it to figure out the new landscape. I think some coaches are looking at what some non-coaching jobs are paying right now and thinking "show me the money!" I think some coaches aren't crazy about getting on a plane every other week. - Forget COVID, airlines are just cancelling days of flights at a time and may leave you stranded in KC or Indy or Spokane or wherever else that you didn't want to go in the first place. I think some coaches are finding out they are in a new conference with the same budget and thinking "do I want to play THEM?!?" (or ADs are thinking something similar about their coaches.) and I think some administrators have been looking at their coach for 2 years now and thinking they'd like to try to find someone else, and now is the time to do that. And some coaches are just losing, or wearing out their welcome and need to be replaced like every year. Hopefully nobody has been talking about their players through hotel walls this year. However it works out, I think we are going to see a ton of movement this offseason.

However it works out, I think we are going to see a ton of movement this offseason. You just made my point. - They hoped that 2021 is a jump back to 2019, and it isn't exactly because of all the factors you mentioned. So they said: "I am out of here."
- Some ADs looked at the way things were handled and what they could afford and made some calculations about budgets, the way the programs have changed and decided whether the coaches that they have were up to the task, projecting their performance in 2020 and 2021 to the big unknown future and made their moves.
- There is also the The Great Resignation that is going on around us. People are deciding that they needed better job security, more salary, less complications for the job and made their moves.
The point is that the normality that we are are staking out is as ephemeral and amorphous as ever. Don't get used to the now, chances are it will change. The landscape will totally change as the NCAA starts rewriting the Constitution as well.

This could be an entertaining Job season. The year isn't even over yet and you already have 5 HC openings? There are 340 D1 schools, and I think around 60 will have new head coaches by next pre-season. Welp... 10% the way to your prediction with the UTSA resignation

18-7 overall and 13-4 in conference. Fourth in conference. That is pretty good given it was such a chaotic start. The last coach pretty much left the school hanging and the assistant stepped in nicely. I don't think he even had an official replacement for himself.

The coach just didn’t leave and left them hanging. The coach was forced to resign. I have heard the interim coach does not plan to remain as the head coach but that might change. LR has had a pretty successful season, but they are senior heavy with the previous coach (2 coaches ago) kids.

She was given a choice. She made her choice, at probably the worst time possible, which could be put on the administration. But she did make her choice, she is not a victim.

Not saying she's a victim, just that both sides handled the situation poorly. Don't know the coach so wouldn't judge her. The admin has a history of poor behavior towards coaches at past schools
