Monza is a very interesting team. Not too star studded but they got some grit

Trentino pretty much cleans house with a revamped roster and smacks Perugia 3-0

Trentino pretty much cleans house with a revamped roster and smacks Perugia 3-0 On paper, Perguia looks stronger at least on the pins. I really love Trentino's middle duo though and Sbertoli is a really nice player.

Perugia is similar to where they were last year. They upgraded to a great setter, but they still don't know what the f&@# they are going to do at opposite. They signed Rychliki because they didn't seem to have the faith in Plotnytskiy to hold down the OH spot opposite of Leon. So they put Anderson on the left and then got fed up with Rychlicki. he had 3 kills, 23% kill percentage and 0% efficiency. Anderson with 42% kill percentage but only 21% efficiency. They moved him to the right side in the third set. Plotnytsky did well from the service line, but only 3 of 9 in attack. The way the cameraman kept panning over to Sirci, makes me think Grbic is already on the hot seat.
Trentino obviously downgraded at setter, but Sbertoli is solid. What I see as their problem is finding a right side. They didn't replace Nimir. They thought they could go with Pinali, but that has not worked well. So they put Lavia out there. He is the smallest of their pins and actually picks up the bulk of the passing in serve receive. Lorenzetti is looking like a genius right now when the there are going to be questions about Trentino's situation in the front office (Mosna stepping down as president on Wednesday). If they continue to play like this, there is a good chance the become Club World Champions again this year (the lineup for that tournament is weak).

Could be the worst Del Monte cup in a long time, from a fans perspective.
Trentino annihilating Monza

Grozer looking like he is still playing for Belogorie in that third set and keeps Monza in it. Going to a 4th.

Super Cup Recap
Monza 3-1 Lube Monza was solid blocking wise and had nice contributions from all the pins. Juantorena and Garcia Fernandez were not that effective, and Lucarelli's passing wasn't good. I was surprised with how some of the sets weren't at least closer. I'm not a huge Orduna fan, but it was a nice win for Monza.
Trentino 3-0 Perugia Trentino swept Perugia despite passing worse than them. Perugia wasn't too much better in the passing department though. I think a big part of that was because Sbertoli was doing a really nice job on the medium system and transition balls. Trentino's block was huge in this match and their middle duo is so good. Rychliki was not good at all and I'm not sure if it's a connection issue with Giannelli but he was also not good against Verona. Thought Giannelli wasn't playing at his best either. Anderson's passing was actually worse than Leon's at 36% positive which isn't great.
Trentino 3-1 Monza Trentino passed slightly worse than Monza and gave away a lot of points from service errors. However, their termination was great and so was their block. Again, I think Sbertoli managed the game really well and Trentino was able to get good transition opportunities. Grozer ball is not a sustainable way for Monza to win against the top teams, and Davyskiba + both of the middles were pretty non-existent in this match. I'm still a little skeptical of Trentino's pin situation but they had a great match offensively.

There continues to be rumors that Padova is negotiating the signing of Ran Takahashi, and Cisterna has also been interested. Likely for his passing.
