Does anyone have access to sideout percentages? One of the keys to winning, particularly against good teams with terminal hitters, is to get the first kill. A good pass A semblance of a middle threat A reliable set = a match where the opponents don't get runs I would guess that MN graded well in all of these facets. In Evanston NW hit ~350 in two of the sets. MN hit .07 .13 .25 and .33 In the fifth set NW had 1 kill and 5 errors. I think both teams were worn out after a 31-29 4th set where MN staved off a number of match points. NW had 17 blocks playing at home, but only 6 tonight The broadcast said Gophers sided out at 77%. I don't recall the NW figure but it was low. High 30s?

So much nicer to read this thread after a sweep at home, lol. It appears that last week and this week the Gophers have been working on a more balanced offense. Good for them. I agree with much of what has been said here. I'll add that its nice for Sameday has some jumps left to close the block. I hope they gain some confidence in their offense this week so that the following weekend Gophers can make a statement against a couple of ranked teams.

It was almost perfectly balanced for the pins: Samedy 23 Attacks Wenaas 23 Attacks Miyabe 22 Attacks

Kilkelly had a really nice match under the radar. Good serving runs and passing was on. Got to love Miyabe leading the team in kills. She put some real heat on a couple of them. Kilkelly is underrated. It was nice that Samedy came back but MN would be nowhere if Miyabe hadn't returned.

Uh, I like what Miyabe has brought this season, but let's not get carried away. Samedy stirs the drink of this team.

Timtouts: Northwestern 6, Minnesota 0. As a famous wrestler once said(many, many times...) " 'Dat is all the people need to know..."

I wonder if they meant that even if Samedy stirs the drink, the drink would be watered down without Miyabe. With Landfair being in and out for unknown reasons, Miyabe has been a huge difference maker in a way that doesn’t discredit the difference Samedy makes.

If Samedy hadn't come back, they might be in the bottom half of the league and not in the top 25. If Miyabe wasn't back, I guess we'd have Glenn at OH, which yeah that would not be good; but not as dismal as not having Steph carrying the load she does.

The part gets irritated, you stop and rest. It feels better. You start up again, with those same movement/mechanics and it starts to hurt again, and you have to sit. OK. I could buy this, as a reasonable explanation. Could also just be a convenient excuse. I have no inside info, and neither do you. So we will have to continue to think what we want to think. With the difference being that I'm not attempting to pass my thoughts off as "proof" of what is actually going on.
