Finally, an angst-free match. Well, except maybe for that slow start again.
Simply too much firepower for an outgunned OSU squad. I do kind of like watching 5'9" Madi Goings tooling the Husky block or hitting deep cross-court for kills, though.
I thought Lauren Sanders played quite well today, per usual with her blocking but especially on offense. If Sanders could give us more successful swings from the middle, it's just going to diversify the offense that much more. Also good news to hear that Sophie Summers might be ready by next weekend, if I heard correctly (dislocated pinky finger).
Emoni Bush played another solid, almost error-free couple of sets, and it was good to see Endsley pick up where Bush left off in the third.
Hoffman had an unusually high number of slam tips that landed in open space around the ten foot line. I don't think OSU defended those particularly well, but I like the shot as a different weapon in Hoffman's arsenal (and Bush had at least one of these as well). While Claire was outstanding on offense, I don't think she'll be happy with her serve receive or ball control. Always something to work on.
It will be good to see the Huskies back in action at Hec Ed next weekend. Cal on Friday evening should be a warm-up for the main event against Stanford at noon on Sunday.
