Gillen and Head get most of the attention, but Ryan and Cartwright both carry their own with Cartwright winning the opposite spot over Dirrigl (who is quite good). You win the Psychic Friends Network award for tonight - Cartwright was fantastic against Mizzou with 11k, 1e, 20 attempts for the straight up .500 hitting percentage, combined with 4 aces and 3 blocks. I’d also like to put in a small word of praise for the season Ellease Crumpton is having in the middle. Crump is never going to make anyone ooh and ahh — she is a bit slow and not exactly overflowing with athleticism, but she has really grown and developed in the Arkansas program, and consistently she is putting up very solid numbers. Not award worthy, but enough to cause defenses to pay attention, and that is really helping Head, Gillen, and Cartwright do what they’re doing. She hit .400 tonight, for example, with 8k, 2e, on 15 swings, and she chipped in 5 blocks. |
