For a moment there, I thought Wazzu had it after the third set. And then UCLA said ah ah ah, I don't think so lol!

Luper is the next UCLA superstar. Yes. She has better stats than May in all categories except kills per set and aces per set. UCLA needs Ndiaye to get out of her sophomore slump for next year.

Those are very big "excepts". Kills are, ultimately, the main job of hitters. And aces are another direct source of points.

May gets set about 11.45 per set with a hitting pct of 0.263. Her kills per set is 4.67. My point is that Luper's numbers are impressive even when compared to May.

Yes, they are impressive. But there is a reason why hitting percentages tend to be inversely correlated with attempts per set. Those extra 2.5 sets per set are probably the most desperate sets -- the ones right into the block. These are the bailout sets that Luper will undoubtedly be getting more of once May is gone.

Use conference only. Luper is at 4.15 kps, hitting .315 on 9.9 attacks per set. No other OH in the Pac is even close to that efficiency.
