Massey just became the all time digs leader for the Beavs tonight. Congrats Massey! She has been the best player on that team for a few years now. The record is deceiving (and not really fair IMO) since she has played 4.5 years and ALL the other players only could play 4 years, but okay.

OSU lead early in the 4th, but COL came on strong towards the end and finished it in 4. Tabron had a career high 19 kills for COL, while OSU was lead by Schell and Light with 13 kills each. OSU's left side hitters had low percentages, which didn't help OSU. Massey had 16 digs, while COL's Deluzio had 30! OSU just could not get it past her enough. She and Tabron were the MVP's for this win.

With Clayton gone and a lot of the hitters playing injured, Colorado doesn't have much firepower. I'm sure the team would like some extra days off just to get a little healing done. It's unfortunate because they were so good just a month ago. Thankfully they have good defense to keep up in these matches.
OSU is looking better than before. They DO look like they belong in the PAC12 team (barely), but they didn't a month ago. They just have too many hitting errors in the end.

It will be a challenge for them the rest of the season. If a couple of their players step it up they have chances to win more matches though. OSU is missing a few key pieces to really get to that next level, due to so many injuries. They are just looking to compete and fight, and build towards next year. They have nothing to lose in these matches, and have started taking sets from teams, but just not enough firepower to really get over the hump and get wins.

The record is deceiving (and not really fair IMO) since she has played 4.5 years and ALL the other players only could play 4 years, but okay. Volleyball records are really messed up in many ways. Before 2001, it was side out scoring. That could lead to a lot of points being played but that wasn't always the case. I think they used 30 points when they first went to rally scoring bc they guessed that would be fairly comparable most of the time. (But, unless the set went over 30, there was a lot less variation in how many points were played than in side out scoring - that was one reason they switched bc they wanted it to be more predictable for TV). Then in 2008, they went to 25 point sets so it was a lot harder to beat ppl who played when sets went to 30. I think that there should be an asterisk for ppl who had a COVID year but it's not like records from different eras are all that comparable in any event.

DeLuzio with 25 digs already! Jeesh. No wonder she is the PAC12 dig leader in DPS. She is the conference leader in dps because the pins on her team can't terminate. In Pac matches Colorado's opponents are taking 39.1 swings per set. Teams at the top of the Pac are allowing 33-34 attacks per set. More opportunities = more digs. That is just one of the reasons why dps is a bad way to compare bros.

This seems a tad bit harsh. 100% understand that she is getting more balls coming over the net because of Colorado’s inability to terminate(hence the higher dig attempts per set) but at the end of the day her job is still to keep the ball up and I don’t think we should necessarily dismiss that. Still a nice moment for her

Still a nice moment for her 30 digs in a 4 set match is great and DeLuzio is doing everything she can but my post was more about the emphasis on dps as a way of ranking liberos.
