Current standings:
School Conf Overall Loyola 11-1 18-6 Illinois State 9-3 13-11 Bradley 9-4 13-11 Valparaiso 7-5 16-7 Evansville 6-5 16-6 Missouri State 5-6 14-9 Indiana State 4-7 12-9 UNI 4-7 9-15 Drake 3-8 8-11 Southern Illinois 0-12 5-20
Loyola are front runners to win the conference. A lot of parity amongst the rest of teams in which anyone could beat anywhere. Another year in which I believe the conference took a step backwards. I struggle with Missouri state as they have really good talent but coaches aren’t producing. I’m shocked at the recruiting classes for UNI as you just don’t see them play such poor volleyball.

Illinois State is really clicking right now. Tamara Otene is emerging as one of, if not the best player in the conference. I feel like it will come to down to ISU and Loyola for the title.

Hurts to go from watching them fight for an NCAA tourney spot (possibly even a seed in some years) to fighting for an MVC tourney spot (with a good chance of NOT making it for the first time basically in the history of the MVC)

Step backwards for the conference? They are currently the ranked 8th in conference RPI and just because normal top teams “UNI/Missouri State” not playing well it’s a step backwards. The Loyola team is young and extremely talented, Illinois State finally had everyone back and Tam on the outside is deadly. Bradley and Valpo just defense the crap out of people. Evansville has some of the best pins in nation, I mean they get every ball and they are still getting 15+ kills a night hitting over .280 that’s nuts.

After tonight's matches:
Current standings (through 11/5/21):
School Conf Overall 1 Loyola 12-2 19-7 2 Illinois State 11-3 15-11 3 Bradley 10-4 14-11 4 Valparaiso 9-5 18-7 5 Evansville 7-6 17-7 t6 UNI 5-8 10-16 t6 Indiana State 5-8 13-10 8 Missouri State 5-9 14-12 9 Drake 4-9 9-12 10 Southern Illinois 0-14 5-22
Loyola, Illinois St, and Bradley have clinched spots in the conference tournament (all guaranteed to finish in the top 6) while SIU is mathematically eliminated (best they could finish would be in a tie for 9th)

Missouri state has lost 7 of last 8 matches. This coaching staff did the same at Ole Miss which led to their dismissal. Not sure what’s going on with a talented team (3 high talent outsides).

In fairness to the current staff, I think this has something to do with that. www.ozarkssportszone.com/2021/11/04/missouri-state-university-statement-on-ncaa-findings/Hard to keep a team motivated when they can’t even have a chance to play in conference tournament or NCAA for something that was done by the previous coaching staff. Sucks for them that they have to deal with the problems caused by Stokes and her previous staff.

This has no effect on their current 6 game losing streak when you have 3 of the best hitters in the league.

Yes this happened 3 years ago, but all NCAA punishments listed start this year as the investigation just ended and they passed the punishment down now. So yes old news about the violations but they have to deal with the fallout now. And more then likely have known for awhile that they won’t get to play in any tournament.

I think this current article is essentially just saying that the NCAA completed its review of the process, not that the sanctions are being re-applied to the program now

But the post season banned is for this year from the NCAA.
