Watching the Wahine play in the 1st set of matches, even this one, I am starting to wonder if the Wahine coaching staff even scouts their opponents. It seems like the coaching staff is relying on making in match adjust. Once the coaching staff makes these adjustment is when the Wahine start to roll in matches.

The broadcast was really quiet on my side. I had to turn up the volume because the commentator wasn't coming through very clearly. But was impressed that he knew about the SSC and how there were no fans in past matches, but fans will be back in the arena next week. Fullerton played well at the start and showed off their defense. However, some of it has to be from a slow start from Hawaii. Crawford was held in check but I really like her game.
Hawaii made adjustments. One of the more recent interviews mentioned that BVS needs to show up for the entire match and she did in the later half of the first set. From there, she really took over. As others have mentioned, it was good seeing Westerberg play. My guess is that it was due to blocking. With the undersized outsides for Fullerton, Ah Mow may have wanted a stronger blocking presence. It looked like she got a lot of touches on the ball, even though she only had one block on the stats. And the Hawaii defense held Crawford to only 5 kills when she has been averaging over 3 kills per set and had 18 kills against Hawaii in the 5 set match. And Hawaii passed better than they did in the first match, only allowing 1 ace.
As for the slow start, I understand the frustrations of some of the posters. Not sure why it's happening myself, but it sometimes just happens to teams.

This was Tiffany Westerberg's best match in a very long time. All the starting positions are set except for Opposite position. It definitely looks like the Opposite position will be by committee. The players in this committee are Martyna Leoniak, Braelyn Akana, and Tiffany Westerberg. It will be interesting next year with 4 or 5 players vying for that starting Opposite position. The Opp depth chart next year: (in no particular order) Leoniak, Akana, Westerberg, DeGoede, DiMirtas The OH depth chart: Wagoner, Johnson, Ham. I believe we have one new OH coming in, but someone has to switch over. Also only going to be 2 middles I think. But both are probably locked in.

I’m wondering if Brae might want to move back to the middle. At 5-11/6-0 she may be a little undersized but I’d she can get a little more on her vertical, she can make it work. She’s only an inch or two shorter than Skyler and it’s not like Skyler is some kind of big leaper.

Isn’t Leoniak going to become an OH since she’s also a decent passer and can defend

Looked like there was a big Hawaii crowd at CSF, thats awesome. Hawaii has a good fan base of Hawaii ex-pats living on the mainland that always attend the matches. I've traveled from Hawaii to watch Wahine volleyball play at Riverside, Fullerton, Northridge and Irvine and there's always a lot of Hawaii fans there. At one match that I attended at Riverside back in 2015 they had "autograph day" against Hawaii after the match. The match was a blowout with Hawaii sweeping in dominating fashion (Hawaii beat Riverside 25-5 in the 3rd set), and after the match Riverside had set up tables inside the gym for the autograph session and the only people in there, aside from the Riverside players, were a few parents and players friends. The Riverside autograph session was basically empty as everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, was in the lobby trying to get Wahine autographs especially Nikki Taylor who had a long line of people trying to get her autograph. Made me feel bad for the Riverside players....
