The way Tiff hit those line shots yesterday were quite impressive! Along with her blocking. Honestly everyone else had more than enough time to prove themselves. Tiff deserves some time as well. I’m more concerned about Wagoners tipping. We all can read it at home before the opposite team can. 😂 Her cross court was weak, especially in later sets I mean this is only her second start right? Get comfortable and she’ll hit harder.

An interesting match. Long Beach is what we thought. They have some challenges, but Kash Williams is such as amazingly gifted athlete. If she gets hot, she can really cause problems for other teams. And the team has some very physical players. I can understand the Beach fans frustrations as the talent is definitely there, but something is not clicking. I think Lovett has a great game and I am hoping she stays for the next 3 years of her eligibility. I want to see how she develops as a player.
Hawaii was on a roll for the first 2 sets. Not much to complain about. As mentioned in the prior match, my guess is that Westerberg was plugged in at the right for blocking. She put up a really nice block against Williams. It seemed like Long Beach did better in the 3rd set when they started to push the ball to the right a little more.
I didn't really notice much on the passing in the first 2 sets, given how Hawaii dominated. Passing in the last 2 were shaky but it is surprising that the middles got so few attempts and Wagoner and BVS took so many. But credit the middles for getting kills and taking advantage of the opportunity when they got set.

Good win all around for the Bows. Don’t even mind the down parts of the game because they didn’t last for long, all in all, the Wahine are continuing to improve and individual players some had written off are showing they can get it done. Love what this team is doing right now, also love that SLO win. Teams should be riding high from a good weekend, let’s hope it leads to increasingly good Big West play.

Good weekend and a good way to go into next weekend with no fan attendance limits. Looking for a very large, raucous crowd at the SSC, after not being able to watch the Wahine in person for over 2 years now.

I couldn’t agree more for the amount of sets she received she did well. She is warming up to the role her blocks were solid matching Amber and Sky. If you look this actually her 1st start. She needs more sets and also plays a short rotation. It’s nice to see Riley Amber and Westerberg in the front as these girls started together and have a good flow. Three of the original fresh 5.

I was always one to be quick to want Wagoner subbed but really appreciating how she’s coming along. Obviously everyone wants more out of their outsides but i like the trajectory of where she’s at right now. Wonder how it compares to OH2 players like Mackenna Granato and Tai Manu Olevao. If Riley gets anywhere close to either of those players next season, I’ll be happy. She’s already ahead of both passing and defensively. Riley is the opposite of those two, I think. Granato and Olevao were typically "hit hard no matter what" players that only started to vary their shots during their upperclassmen years.

But by careers end they were both incredibly reliable Outside hitters. I think Riley is a couple shots away from regularly putting up double digit kills without needing as many swings or having as many errors. Lol that moonball tip needs to GO!

I get that the Beach block might have been favoring the middle, but when Amber was hitting .900 on only 10 attempts and the outsides were hitting about .200 with over 20 each, I was hoping Kate would force Amber a bit.

That block Amber had on Williams at 20-15 in Set 4 is a thing of beauty, that ball went straight down.

Still not sold on Wagoner. I want to see more Westerberg. Wagoner will be in the lineup the rest of the season. Not because she is that good but there really is nobody else that can pass better than her. Without good passing, Amber and Skyler will be neutralized. Even if Wags is not hitting well, her passing allows UH run the middle. As for Westerberg, she will continue to start as long as UH win or until she starts to struggle. The Tiff/Janelle duo is working pretty good .

They have the subs to have Westerberg/Gong on the right and back row and Leoniak/Wagoner on the left and back row, especially given how good Igiede can be defensively in her service rotation.

The potential question to that is if Leoniak can transition to passing and swinging on the left. I don't think the Wahine are good enough to pass with two in BVS and Ikenaga.
