I don't understand when players get a block touch and then do a 'turtle' move, like they are afraid the ball is going to come down and touch them.... keep your head up and find the ball! Did she get a block touch? I thought maybe it went off the net. But yeah, the usual instinct to avoid a second contact is the wrong way to go after a block.

okay but like how are they actually so bad in 5th sets. It’s actually insane It cannot be a coincidence. It must be something. It is like 3-20 since 2018. It's the curse of aunt Becky.

Big win for the Ducks against a dangerous team, although they need to find a way to get clicking again (I would say the same about Wisconsin, to be fair).

It was not meant as a shot, but their upside is a lot more than they have shown in 5 set escapes versus depleted Colorado and a talented but inconsistent USC at home, a literally 6 point win at a struggling Stanford (as a fan of a program that has never beaten them, I am jealous of that) and an expected sweep of last place Cal. Wins are good, but they are capable of a higher level of performance, which will be needed, in their next 3 matches, which would be tough for anyone.

Wins are good, but they are capable of a higher level of performance, which will be needed, in their next 3 matches, which would be tough for anyone. I think the ducks upside will depend a lot on Borup’s availability down the stretch. There is no question we miss the experience and calm steady leadership of a 6th year senior out there. Williams has steadily improved though, from hitting negative when Borup first went down to .111 against Colorado and then mid .200s vs Stanford/cal/usc. But she isn’t set often, which allows blockers to camp on our right sides (and we are probably forcing some balls to the right that should go OH). And in the rotation she passes, we’ve gone to a 2-man serve receive at times, which can be dicey. With 3 tough matches coming up I wonder if they’ll try to get Borup back out there or continue to rest her and hope to get her back for the tournament….but regardless I am proud of the way the team has found a way to win some challenging matches during this stretch without her.

It cannot be a coincidence. It must be something. It is like 3-20 since 2018. Donna Heinel put some curse on the program starting with the 5th set of UF/USC in the 2017 Regional Final and it just cannot be shook. Actually it started in in San Diego against Kansas
