Will Timmer's injury keep her out of this game? If so, Stanford pulls out a tough one. WSU serves strong though, so Stanford needs to pass at least decent enough to run their offense. Stanford pushed WA, and without Timmer, its advantage to Stanford. What happened to Timmer last night? This is the only post I've seen from someone who apparently saw it. Timmer got hurt tonight. Didn't look good.

So they're throwing their back-up setter out there? Ok. Yeah, well, that's who they subbed in for Timmer last night. Gotta put somebody on the floor, I guess, but obviously Timmer would be a huge loss.

So they're throwing their back-up setter out there? Ok. Well she is listed as a setter, but this season she seems to only be used as a hitter when she plays, and can be pretty effective.

Ung's blocking assignment would be Kipp. She's 6'0 and Kipp is 6'5. That doesn't sound like a good situation for the Cougs.

Tufuga is listed as a setter, played some Oppo in the spring, and has played setter, OH, libero, DS, and serving sub for Stanford this season (hopefully they won't need her to play middle). If WSU has as few bodies able to be in uniform as Stanford does this year, then it's just, "pick the best kid who hasn't been in yet this set, who's healthy, and hope it's for a position that she vaguely understands." Or just hope you're playing Cal, and it works out.
All setters like to hit anyway

All setters like to hit anyway I think they only play Ung as an opposite sub. I think that's the only position she's played either year at WSU. Ppl were joking about it in the international thread bc she's a setter on the Mexican national team. But, looking at VolleyBox, she played opposite for Ireris in the Mexican League so it's not that odd that she'd play opposite for WSU women.volleybox.net/ireris-t10172/players

I think it's clear Ung is the main option available. WSU had an unexpected short bench for hitters this season.
I don't remember what happened to Dalton.
They also have Wojdyla, but she hasn't seen much court time. (By that I mean she has played in 5 sets and has made 10 total attacks as a Coug.)

Coug attackers by current career attacks:
Timmer 939 Tusa 487 Ryan 404 Ung 140 Wojdyla 10
Despite being listed as "setter", it certainly seems like Ung is more likely than Wojdyla if Timmer is out.

So they're throwing their back-up setter out there? Ok. Ung would have played 6ro OH for Oregon today.

This is a must win for Stanford

This is a must win for Stanford Stanford should win if Timmer doesn't play for WSU. If Timmer is near 100% and plays, then the match feels like a toss up. I'm not sure I agree it is a must win. I'd say Cal and CU are very winnable and games that Stanford clearly has the talent edge. Utah on the road looks like a loss, but not what I'd call a lock. USC on the road is probably a toss up. Stanford probably ends the regular season 16-12. In the NCAA tournament, likely they win the 1st round and lose in the 2nd, so overall for the season, 17-13.
