Some of LMU's sets have been scarily tight to the net.

BYU in 4, but the Lions gave them a run for their money.
(25-22 fourth set that was tight all the way.)

Shout out to LMU for playing with grit at the toughest venue in the WCC. I hope everyone stays healthy and finishes the season strong!

If I had a dime for every time Jarom Jordan mentioned that “in their only loss to Pitt, senior outside Taylen Ballard-Nixon was out” I would be rich Yes, but in my opinion BYU wins that game if she plays. That being said, watching Pitt more recently, they have clearly improved.

does BYU use the experimental system with "have 2 challenges, keep them if correct"? I believe they do, but I'm not 100% sure.

I have never watched LMU - with some defense and tougher serving they seem like they could be very formidable. Megan Rice is elite - wow - she is really fun to watch.

The camera does not do justice to the velocity of Rice, Kemp, and even Booth’s serves. The style of play from LMU today was eerily reminiscent of watching a men’s team. High risk, high reward, and they nearly pulled it off. Megan Rice was fantastic. It really is a shame she was slowed by injuries in her career. Isabella Bareford set very well in sets 2-4. I thought she was a bit messy in the first set, but she really elevated her level of play after that. She’s very good at back setting and not easy to read. Man, what could have been with LMU this year. But then can they play this way when it really counts, because they had no pressure in this match.
This was an interesting match for BYU’s back row players. Abbey Dayton actually passed okay. Now when she has to make small adjustments to serves, she is and will always be a step slow. She’s even slower reacting on defense. She just doesn’t have the quick reflexes and anticipation of a good defensive player. But she’s also too passive right now, which makes sense since she hasn’t had much time on the court this year. She’s stepped in and is doing what she can. That’s all you can ask. Aria McComber has the reflexes, but is not a good judge of depth on serves and sometimes hits, and she tends to get rattled easily and then plays too aggressively to compensate. I think Gretchen did a good job today of maintaining her composure and helping Aria to calm her nerves and Abbey to be more assertive. It’s a good thing we have her as an option at libero.

also, the difference between Allen and Dayton in the backfire is tremendous. Dayton’s defense is….. not it I’m sure Dayton is a lovely person, but a real liability in the back row. I’m sorta baffled the other Bower sister doesn’t even seem to be an option.
