How awkward would it be to draft a college kid, only to have them go play overseas? I'm not sure I'd waste a draft pick on Stivrins or Rettke. They have options.

Is Stivrins even interested in playing post college with her back situation?

How does a college draft work for a league that doesn't have defined teams, couldn't they just release a list of invited players? Sounds more like a military draft if we're being honest. Although that could add a layer of suspense to the proceedings if getting drafted by AU meant you can't play in Italy/Japan etc. so Jordan (and the rest of the executive committee) has been in charge of getting players to play AU.. this will just be an extension of that. The committee will select the 15 players they want to invite to join AU. (I assume this is so then they dont have to ask college kids if they want to play... have too many sign up, etc) Being drafted by AU wont (or shouldnt) have any binding to not being able to play overseas... in the end.. it may be a marketing thing... Samedy and Rettke will get picked but they're going overseas (or most probably will lol) Seems hard to manage/control how many that get drafted actually choose to play. To me, it'd make more sense if players got to submit a notice of interest (maybe even not publicly) and then the draft would occur based on that.

They drafted their players and then held an open tryout to fill the remaining spots... which is probably how AU will do it. Not getting permission to be drafted makes this seem to me like just a marketing scheme... they'll do the "oohs and ahs" with Samedy, Dana, Pressley, etc.. but end up with the ones who make sense for AU

I was being facetious about preventing overseas play, just a little idea to add some spice to the event.

This is almost as if the Euroleague drafted guys out of the NCAA basketball. Yea, some could go over, but these guys also have real options like the NBA or G-League they could entertain.

Fix the scoring system. 💥 In fact, CK met an athlete who played in AU at GJNC’ s in Vegas and she said “Fix the scoring system” 😳

I think it's weird though, they didnt save a spot for an NCAA libero (or expanded the players to 48 to allow for that)... given NCAA liberos have almost 0 opportunity elsewhere **unless they're getting rid of roster requirements for like all of those middles who never played last year lol

im not. Sheilla got AU on TV in brazil... thats a big deal (not even including all of the fans/interactions online from Brazil) Tomkom will be similar... AU is about to be filled with a ton of Thai fans lol All they need is someone from the Philippines. They got some with Stalzer.... someone call Kalei Mau someone get Fe Garay over here then too (1) she'd dominate; and (2) she'd be giving side-eye to the setters and I'd live for that

I think she hit over 300 in the Olympics as an OH and some people on here thought she would be getting benched when Natalia could play 👀👀👀 the audacity

How much is Sheila making to come back and play? Are they all paid the same? I forget.
Alsoooo does this mean someone who graduates in spring 2022 can play still?
