Schedule is anticipated to be released sometime today. Anyone following this event obviously knows it is loaded. But how much can we actually learn about teams this weekend? In my opinion an event like this is way too early..
California programs have been actively competing since middle of October and the Chicago area clubs started late October. Milwaukee clubs literally just had tryouts this last weekend so this will definitely impact them. A handful of the other programs like C2, Cinci Attack, and Academy just had their first tournament. Vanguard out or Ohio hasn’t competed either.
A lot of unknowns but I’m sure you will see some ugly volleyball this weekend because of the timing of this event. I think this type of event should be late December, right before clubs break for the holidays.

I think the purpose was for an early college recruiting event. Finding a weekend that people could just drop a regular event would be tough in DEC "without rocking the boat too much"
We played twice. Messiah University - Was Division 3, College Club, and Men's Teams. Alvernia College - Was Division 3, College Club, and Men's teams.
It should be a interesting event. It def is early.
I did hear baller TV should be there.

I thought all AAU events would have great communication and do what they said they were going to do? We were told schedules out Tuesday.
Enjoy Milwaukee everyone. Weather is supposed to beautiful this time of year. I am sure all you socal folks will feel right at home.

Weather is supposed to beautiful this time of year. I am sure all you socal folks will feel right at home. Just because it is an AAU event doesn’t mean AAU actually runs it. USAV doesn’t actually run qualifiers they just award bids to qualifiers. It’s in the bylaws. You can request to make your tournament a qualifier at any time. Third Coast has had massive turmoil over the months. Went from Chicago to Milwaukee, JVA affiliation to now AAU, some guy named Connor running it to now a guy named Jimmy and Steve Bailey. This event has had a lot of personal issues. Nothing to do with the AAU. Whereas USAV still took four months after their national tournament to PUBLICLY announce where national was.

You get all the top teams from around the country to come play in your back yard and you are crapping on it? Come on man! It isn't ideal because the Wisconsin clubs have literally not practiced together once and might get two in before this tournament kicks off, but if it's between getting everyone to come play within a 15 minute drive right at the start of the club season or not getting everyone to come to Wisconsin at all, I'm all for the former.

BradK is just a critique in a lot of situations. He really has not been positive on the whole AAU/JVA transition from the start. Which they said the schedule would be out by Tuesday technically it came out at 11:00pm on Tuesday CT so they did do what they said they would do lol.

It was more of a tongue in cheek comment about the whole aau vs usav situation. The biggest complaint was communication from USAV over tournaments etc. They followed through and released Tuesday. Could I have deleted it sure but I wont. I have no problems with the tournament and should be fun. Dont think this will be back in Milwaukee next year as it was supposed to be in Chicago anyways but protocols could not guarantee it could take place. Guessing they return to Chicago next year, but for this year I am all for it and it will be great to learn about our teams with only 1 practice in.

I was looking over the tournament flow chart and it looks like the gold bracket starts Sunday at the end of the day. Would this mean that a loss in that game means a team has no games on Monday? What division? I am sure those are just crossover matches.

I think Milwaukee has a great chance to impress people. We had never been to Indy before last year and they did a great job hosting. Would love to see Indy get a major event. Milwaukee from what I heard is a really nice city with plenty to do. If the travel is easy to get there for the programs flying in and Third Coast feels like they can expand the field to more 2s teams or even 14s I am sure they will make a case to stay there.

What division? I am sure those are just crossover matches. 18 open quarterfinals are scheduled for 4 pm on Sunday I see that! Looking at the bracket view it looks like the losers go into a four team bracket on Monday morning.

I personally do not believe in what JVA has allowed in the past and that is a factor in my mind. I understand the SCVA complaints and get it, but for everyone to change what we have been doing because some people dont like it and have more pull is not right in my mind. No one will ever be happy in anything these days.
Everyone is pushing their own agenda and trying to take advantage of it. The number of tournaments that have popped up is great for the game dont get me wrong. But the lying that has occurred from some of these clubs saying who is coming to the tournament and who has committed to coming is frustrating. We had a nice thing going that parents could plan around in terms of scheduling. Yes some of us are in areas that does not allow close competition and we have to travel. If you are in a hotbed of volleyball you have the monopoly and the advantage. For those of us who need to travel to play top level competition it is what it is.
I am very excited for this tournament and cant wait to see what they do with it and if it will even feel any different that other events we have attended. Competition will be great. I love the Gold quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon when everyone is still there. Should be some great volleyball at 3 and 4 pm.
Does anyone know check in procedures for this weekend? Wristbands? Players in uniform get in? Coaches need anything?

You are telling me.. The amount of directors that have deviated from conversations had is frustrating. Building some turmoil. From what I saw is you need to do the online check-in by today with rosters and then between 4-8pm on Friday you need to go pick up your credentials.
