Utah rolls in 1st set 25-14. Utah lead by Drews with 5 kills. Utah already has 5 aces. CAL lead by 3 players with 2 kills each, but only hitting .045.

Sydney L a bright spot for CAL with 4 kills. Her lefty shots can be pretty effective. Grote and Schmidt struggle to get their kills to the floor.

At this point, it almost seems cruel to create a Cal match thread. I mean, ouch. Well, maybe. But there are CAL fans that still have hope, and fans that like to talk about what is going on with CAL and Utah. Of course, and that’s more than fine. Clearly, I’m not one of those that still have hope, despite having gone to Cal, played at Cal (not volleyball), received a graduate degree from Cal, worked for Cal athletics, and written a number of checks to Feller. Or maybe it’s because of all those things… |

Well, maybe. But there are CAL fans that still have hope, and fans that like to talk about what is going on with CAL and Utah. Of course, and that’s more than fine. Utah storms through the second 25-9. Drews on fire with 13 kills. Utah has 8 aces. CAL's serve receive is a major struggle. CAL lead by Sam T and Sydney L with 4 kills each. CAL hitting negative.

Utah players had a party to go to tonight or something. They didn't want to waste time.
Cal never got as many as 15 points in any of the sets. -14 -9 -13

Utah took set 3 23-13, without Drews. Drews finished 13-17, .709 in less than two sets.

Utah stormed through the 3rd and had non starters even playing. Drews lead with 13 kills. CAL was lead by Sydney L with 6 kills, but overall a sad performance by CAL hitting negative. They might have a better chance against COL later this weekend.

Utah took set 3 23-13, without Drews. Drews finished 13-17, .709 in less than two sets. Utah should have plenty of gas for their next match against Stanford. |
