These are the kind of matches that make you wish there was a better way than these bad conferences getting AQs into the tourney

No one wants to watch a beatdown sweep in the tourney when it should be the best 64 teams in the country.

Many people would argue the opening round is the best part of the Men's basketball tournament. There is a certain segment of the sports viewing population that just loves the upsets. Unfortunately, much of the discussion of of how to determine the champion in other NCAA sports is based on the men's basketball tournament. But the volleyball tournament simply doesn't provide the same number of upsets, not even the women's basketball tournament does for that matter. With the regionalization of the volleyball tournament, I don't see what the thrill is for FAMU. They got to take a bus trip from Jacksonville to Gainesville to get beatdown by the Gators. woot! woot! Correction: FAMU is in Tallahassee, in which case maybe there excitement was more understandable.

Whereas in Bball it still happens. Not holding my breath for a change anytime soon, because I agree, hard to not follow the bball model. But the competitiveness/excitement of early bball rounds compared to the early vball rounds is a big difference

We finally got them to show the regional round games on tv and you are worried about who Florida plays in the opening round for tv coverage? And these next four teams in have no chance of doing anything either (for reasons stated above) so why include the next four in and make the small conferences separate? Volleyball could legitimately move to a 16 team tournament if that's what you are looking for, maybe even 8. No one is winning outside that group.

I forgot how hilarious it is, was laughing until I cried yet again

Unless the A-10s are flying... But that's only a quick blip of joy and awe

You know just as well as me that Florida A&M much like a few other of those types are clear outliers in a tournament that is mostly competitive or at least makes sense of teams earning their way in. No solution presented but just acknowledging that it could be better for the sport to find a new way.
