Trentino wins in 5, they definitely earned that win. What a match.
I think I’d give a very slight advantage to Perugia in the rematch, but not counting Trentino out at all.

That Trentino-Perugia game was probably my favorite I've ever commentated, straight thriller from start to finish. Leon in the fourth set was otherworldly...even though Perugia lost, the fact that Leon got them to the fifth is huge for next week's return match in Trento, now Perugia can still win and advance without a golden set

It was interesting that each match had completely different profiles. On one hand you had ZAKSA making a statement with authority. 15, 15, and 14 points from each of their pins and Smith went 7 for 7 in attack.
The other match was a slugfest. Four guys with at least 25 points. Trentino had a chance to go into the return leg with a huge advantage and Leon decided not to let that happen. It was very fun.

definitely an interesting read I do agree in some sense, although this might not be a conscious decision versus the defensive capabilities of teams are slightly catching up to the offensive physicality that is so prevalent in the mens game |
