BYU was not messing around in the first round, and they are a heck of a team. Utah has Drews, and it is a rivalry match. This is probably the Saturday match with the most intrigue, in my opinion, beating out PSU at Pitt because the rivalry is bigger. I don't think BYU holds Drews to .088 again, and they won 2 deuce sets in the September sweep.

They destroy teams not on their level -- just like you'd expect from a Top 10 team. I get that their SOS is suspect, but of all the teams I casually follow, for me this team really passes the eye test. They are not going to have a terrible game and beat themselves, you have to take it to them. Utah is capable of elevating their play and beating them--but they've also been really hot and cold this season.

Crazy the season is ending so soon I remember watching the first match and Drews was just out of sorts, she played horribly. I don’t expect the same from her.
BYU in the first meeting would establish a big lead and then Utah would claw back into the match. To me this is a toss up the only result that would surprise me would be a sweep either way.

Drews is capable of taking over, and that is what she needs to do this match. Utes do go up and down at times from match to match, which is true, but they are capable of playing very strong. If they bring that level they can shock BYU. BYU is not used to losing this year, so if the Utes can get an early lead and keep the foot on the gas, they will win. If BYU gets ahead quickly, I'm not sure the Utes have it in them to come back. Will be fun to watch.

In the last few years BYU has been able to pull out the win even with Drews playing well. The loss in 2019 was in large part due to Koerber stepping up and helping Drew’s out. In September it was Weatherington who had the hot hand against BYU so if she can perform that well again and Drews can play her game than it will be a battle. The only result that would REALLY shock me is a Utah sweep.

baytree, would you mind including in the title of thread to BYU vs Utah? Might be easier to find? I’d have rather been seeded 16th and had Florida’s opponents than face Utah, AGAIN. If we can run the middle, I feel good. If we have to rely on our outsides, we’re in trouble. Livingston looked great last night, however. Might come down to whichever transfer has the best night-Koerber or Robinson.

I’d have rather been seeded 16th and had Florida’s opponents than face Utah, AGAIN. So tired of this matchup. They had all the reasons to seed Utah (except geography), who had double the Top 25 wins that Miami-FL and Florida had. Utah went on the road in the non-conference and beat a seeded Big 10 team and the committee has been very friendly to the Big 10 lately. Sigh.

Some ppl didn't want the names of the teams playing in the title in case they hadn't found out who won the first round yet. That's why I didn't put them in the title.

I go back and forth bc there is a good reason to hide the results but there's also a good reason to put it in the title. How many ppl (out of those who are interested) wouldn't know who the teams in a regional are? It seemed to me like almost everyone here who cared would know that Utah and BYU are playing tonight.

Click "like" if you want me to change the title. If a lot of ppl want me to, I will. Otherwise, I'll probably wait until a couple of hours before the match to change it.
