That's not true. Minnesota advanced in Austin against Louisville. And Nebraska advanced in Minneapolis against Oregon. Ok JK I guess there's been more parity than I thought. Dis is good! I still don't like it! I'm a curmudgeon and I don't like it!!!! and Kentucky lost in the elite 8 in 2017

And awarding pre-determined sites creates the potential of allowing decision makers with even less transparency than the selection committee to create favorable situations for programs who haven’t even earned it on the court. Yeah, I'm not suggesting we go back to what was. I think volleyball, within the next 3-5 years will be capable of being run similarly to the bball regional tourneys. In cities across the country, in big venues, attached to a host, but not necessarily on the host's campus. Ya feel? So if Lincoln hosts, Nebraska isn’t allowed to play there? That would get rid of home court advantage but there would be terrible crowds.

Fwiw I highly favor a return to set regional sites. Giving the best teams HCA every year makes for very predictable results. But bringing in more attendance revenue helps volleyball become a tier 1 sport. They've had to battle for years to have a gap day in the regional so kids aren't playing on back to back days. That's a money decision. I'm not sure what your definition of a "tier 1" sport is, but regional attendance is hardly going to get volleyball anywhere close to football or basketball. The attendance at Gregory in the box score was 4488, and by accounts earlier, it was close to sold out. In one of the last Regional Finals on a neutral regional site that 2015 Nebraska/Washington in Lexington drew 2285. An extra 2,000 fans showing up to a few matches isn't going to make volleyball into a "tier 1" sport. They'd be better off saving money excluding all of the cupcake auto-bid volleyball teams they fly around the country to get bounced in the 1st round than they do giving the top teams HCA every year in the regional.

Predetermined sites can break bad like when A&M hosted. No one was there for regional final. Can’t have that. Attendance is what matters right now in tournament, not parity.

UW does not own the Choke Award today. That Award belongs to BYU. But UW did leave a lot of Dog Poop on the floor.
UW does need to have a serious talk with the Selection Committee. Never send the Hawaii team to Seattle again. Cause every time UW has to play Hawaii, it brings out the Best in a UW Team. Once beating Hawaii, the UW team has no where to go but on a downward trend, cause they have already played their Best.

It's so wild to think I won't see any of these Longhorn faces in the avatars on this forum starting tomorrow. Oops we’re here for at least 2 more days

I’m using the same language as UT’s Jerritt Elliot when he was talking about more money coming into the sport each year. It may not bring in as much as men’s basketball, but I wonder how far it is from women’s. Or how it compares to softball or women’s soccer.

Epic.
But mad props to the Longhorns. They just powered their way through, and played some pretty gritty defense to back it up.

Got back from the game about a while ago and took a while to scroll through 70+ of pages that were created since I left for the game at 5:15. During the entire game, this old meme kept rolling through my head:
I was told about Washington by Washington fans: 1. The team is BIG - check 2. The team has very good defense - check 3. The team can pass - check 4. The team can block - check 5. However, they're a bit slow - mmmm, unsure 6. They don't have a settled OH2, they rotate - check, check
I told non-Texas fans: a. Our blocks are slow in coming, meaning that we might get 1 block set 1 and then no more blocks until the 3rd set when a slew of them start occurring - check b. Our passing is back to the pre-2020 passing, kinda sucks - check c. But we're really, really good at hitting OOS - check d. The middle and slide attack is how we can beat a "slow" team - check
Down 15-10 in the third, I thought "Oh God, this is worse than Louisville 2 years ago". My wife called me a defeatist.
In the 4th set my wife was making a weird hand signal towards the Washington bench. I asked what's up with that. She said one of the players was making a sarcastic "Goodbye" wave to the all the Longhorn fans at the end of the 2nd set.
Maybe that's why they play 5.
