I don’t understand why people keeping saying we got whooped by Kentucky…
Match 1 (22-25, 22-25, 20-25) Hitting %: UF .248, UK .314 Kills: UF 35, UK 52 Blocks: UF 10, UK 4 Digs: UF 42, UK 41 Aces: UF 2, UK 6
Match 2 (18-25, 20-25, 23-25) Hitting %: UF .224, UK .289 Kills: UF 43, UK 47 Blocks: UF 6, UK 7 Digs: UF 44, UK 48 Aces: UF 0, UK 4
So Kentucky outplayed Florida in a couple categories each night, but that certainly isn’t this ridiculous butt-whooping that people seem to think happened when they see two sweeps. Mind you, the second match was played mostly without Ceaser and she rolled her ankle the first match.
Okay I’m off my soapbox

Plus there was more to that weekend than the numbers tell. That is all. Thanks for the post. Go Gators!

Statistics aren't really relevant here outside of hitting percentage. And on the second night, Florida was outplayed in literally every category you listed. These are not statistics that support your claim. Caesar factor doesn't matter as she's not playing. Regardless, you're now playing on the road against a team better than Kentucky. The fact that more people are picking Florida to win here indicates to me that there are some delusional Gator fans on this board.

Florida has weapons just like Illinois has weapons but both have been consistently inconsistent. Florida is just playing the most consistent team in the tournament now. Can they have a Illinois type match?, Maybe but the odds are low.

Illinois won by 3 in the first, lost by 5 in the second. Could the game have been closer in the 3rd and 4th with Kentucky not crumbling but the way Illinois was playing there was nothing that tells me they couldn’t have still beaten UK 25-23 in the 3rd and 4th sets. If Florida plays as well as they possible can it only takes Louisville to play a little less than they are capable of to lose. Again chances are low.

This is the match I feel least comfortable predicting. Every time I’ve seen Louisville play this season, they’ve seen very complete and poised to go all the way. But Florida seemed pretty determined this first weekend. I think Louisville takes it, but nothing would surprise me.

Louisville’s tricky cause it’s not like one or two players has a bad game and they’ll lose, all 6 of their hitters are players they can set in tight moments. Arguably the most balanced team left in the tournament

Louisville does not give up huge runs, for the most part even when they aren’t playing well there only 3-4 points back and capable of getting back in it with efficient offense and stingy defense. I struggle to see Florida play consistently better for 3 out of 5 sets.

IMO, this is THAT match. Louisville really should win, but would not shock me at all to see FLA pull an upset. Should be interesting.

Almost doesn’t really ever count though at times I wish it did. Anyway, LETS GO GATORS!

I have seen a lot of Louisville and I feel they are heavily favored but Florida has a chance, and that’s all they need. Against Ball State, Louisville looked shakey in the first set before settling in. I think if Florida wants to have a chance they need to come out strong and early.
Florida has nothing to lose. This match could be played 10 times and Louisville would probably win 9 of 10 but Florida only needs one. The pressure of being the 1 seed playing at home and getting to the Regional Finals is something Florida can exploit. I think this match will be interesting.

This is a bad time of year to be undefeated… and a great time of year to have nothing to lose! Go Gators!! If a team honestly thinks they might be able to win, they have something to lose. It's a program that's done everything except win a title and now they're facing a newbie No. 1 seed which may or may not be feeling some pressure. FLordia might not feel like they have "nothing to lose." On the other hand, they've had a topsy turvey season and might be happy with their Sweet 16 and see anything else as icing on the cake.
My point is that just because a team is underdog doesn't automatically mean they feel like they have nothing to lose.
