Majority of these "rankings" sites are complete and total BS that is filled with inaccuracies because you have teams that will enter every single match that they play, and others that only enter matches they won other than the qualifiers or larger tourneys submitting results. Other than that seeding comes with bias of clubs and coaches that organizers know or see a limited sample size of their season prior to making seedings. AES, Sportwrench, PV, etc. are all just junk - there needs to be an overhaul and standard way of entering and recording results. I don't believe anything you said is wrong. I can't imagine there being any solution in the near future though. No way that you'll get everyone to agree to use one platform, and no outside party will be willing to compile all of that data from separate sources without being compensated. I could be misremembering, but years ago Northern Lights Qualifier would send out an email like once a month reminding teams to enter their entire season results as they happened to encourage better seeding for the event. Not only was it a massive pain in the butt to do, but then you would have teams that sandbagged it. We played a team that should have absolutely had a top seed in a pool and instead their coach bragged about how they were having a great season and he felt more comfortable taking the risk of winding up in a pool with another top seed and hopefully knock them off rather than have someone else take a shot at seeding them correctly.

Triple Crown NIT is a month away. With the lack of confidence (putting it nicely) in accurate info coming from prepvolleyball.com these days, how do y’all feel about those PV rankings being used as a legitimate component in determining the seeds for the tournament? www.triplecrownvolleyball.com/eventdetailsnit.html Of all the things to use to determine seedings, PV shouldn’t even be in the conversation. Throwing team names in a hat and choosing seeding that way would be more accurate than anything PV offers.

I believe Triple Crown uses their club connections to formulate their seeding: send out mass emails to acquire feedback. A method that Tawa used to use, long gone from the current PV methodology.

Rockwood Thunder 16 elite is the best team in the club for their age group. I expect to see them do some big things. They have been just destroying all the local comp.

That Rockwood Thunder class has always been strong. Definitely in the top 15 nationally. They are well rounded, at least the last couple of years. Haven’t seen them yet this season.

Does Coast get some form of advantage now if it is true they signed up with no intention of going just to give USAV a straight 12? This qualifier does not show up on Coast's schedule so it does appear they never considered attending. I guess I am getting too old to just look the other way and say anything goes or sh!t happens. I guess a point for that could be made if COAST doesn't win a bid but gets an at large bid. I don't know if everything is as shady as you potentially portray it but I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time. A friend's daughter plays for Coast. That Tournament was never on their schedule.

HPSTL is a good team, top 50 for sure, at least based on last year. But it is sports, I guess. Any given day, as they say.

They meet again this weekend, so it will be interesting to see how the rematch goes.

I thought the coverage for the Girls 18s Winter Championship was pretty good. Maybe they are in the process of trying harder. I know the rankings are not good and the coverage was pretty non-existent for the last 2 years, but it would be difficult to learn every top player in the country for 4 different age groups during a pandemic.
