Keeping my eye on MN Select 17-1. Some of the best players from other clubs in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area seem to have moved there.
While they're always good and solid club, I think it's been a while since they've had a truly elite team (talking like top four in the nation). This might be it. Think the last one I'd put in that class was their 18-1's from about 4-5 years ago.

PV just released their 18s Top 30 prediction. TAV Black is #6 and does not exist as a team. PV, please do a little bit of research before posting your article. It literally takes 20 seconds to go to their website and see that they don’t even have an 18s tab. How do you mess that up PV??

This group as 14's (they were at Select at the time) lost in the Semi-Finals at Nationals I think. A group of those girls then came over (for some, back over) to Lights for two years and now a group of five girls went over to Select for this year. They are a very tall and talented group of girls that should make a good run at Nationals. They went 2-1 at the Molten Pre-Series this past weekend.

I feel like PV would have been notified by now and at least changed it.

And you really think PV cares about the quality of its content anymore? Someone should go tweet at Jimmy and see what his response is.

I understand poor and uninformed rankings this early in the season, but having a team ranked that does not exist?? I’m at a loss

On their form that they ask coaches to fill out about their team, there is a generic question at the end that goes something like “Who are the top teams across the country in this age group?” I’m sure lots of coaches just copy paste the big clubs (TAV, A5, Muncie, etc) into every age group. They probably didn’t do any more research than that. I’d love to hear the explanation still.

I’m at a loss Just my opinion but a lot of these lists are formed more by assumption than by actual research. "Oh she got recruited by a number one P5 school? Well she must be pretty good so we'll rank her high." Back in the not so distant past. I would see John, Sloane, or Chris at events, making notes and doing their due diligence. Lately? Not so much.

I do think PrepDig will fill the void left by PV. PD is just getting started and is better in some regions more than others but their scouts attend all the tournaments, including national tournaments and local tournaments. They take notes and take the time to know the players. Chris Fitzgerald is a volleyball junkie and puts a lot of effort into it. For anyone looking for specific info on club teams at all age levels, he’s a good place to start.

Right now it is $100 for one state, $200 for five states, or $300 for all states (yearly). For comparison, PV is $60 for 1 year, or $100 for 4 years. Or VolleyballMag is free (Now that I'm actually doing the research, I'm going to becoming a 'Sustaining Member' for VBMag now).
