Any rotation where we have Ally/Lexi with Nicklin and a Middle is a potentially difficult rotation. It can be different from match to match, but to me, it's that combination where we will get stuck in (if we get stuck).
That said, I don't think any rotation is as bad this year as Rotation 1 receive has been for us the past few years.

Under John Cook, Nebraska is 6-7 against Texas in Austin; 10-13 all-time in Austin. This is probably my favorite volleyball rivalry. These programs always make for great December match-ups.

largest margin and smallest margin of victory are hilarious. "Hey, we have extra space on this page and don't want to move anything, what should we do!?!" "I know, let's put some useless boxes in there as filler!" But having links to recaps going back that far is really cool

If I'm not mistaken, Nebraska has more victories over Texas than any other team. And Texas has more victories over Nebraska than any other team.

Didn’t Fields pop off for 20+ kills last year over Hames? I think she hit almost 600 That Hames vs Fields matchup is really bad for Nebraska. Hames needs to grow like 4 inches before the match tomorrow.

In the spring tournament match, there were a lot of balls dug that died in transition from tentative OH swings and Sweet struggling. Nicklin needs to have a good match and it would be very helpful if Krause could decide to peak on Saturday lol

If I'm not mistaken, Nebraska has more victories over Texas than any other team. And Texas has more victories over Nebraska than any other team. I would be surprised if this isn't accurate. I can't think of any SWC/Big 12 school that would come close to Nebraska in the number of victories over Texas. Highly doubt we have played anyone enough in OOC to match Nebraska unless it was in the 80s when teams played a lot more matches. Basically the same for Nebraska and the number of Texas victories.

Unpopular opinion but I think huskers take the win! Hoping the freshman carry their confidence from last nights game to Saturdays game. Our defense will be the game changer.

These two teams are essentially identical to their spring selves, minus the shifts as Libero for both. That buys Nebraska a closer match (aka not a sweep), but Texas still has the guns to neutralize Nebraska’s defense. Texas in 4. They are very close. Texas' lone lineup change has Melanie Parra playing DS instead of the experienced Morgan O'Brien. O'Brien's ball control and post-season experience have definitely missed; but Parra's tough serving (when she's on) is what we gain. Nebraska didn't have Stivrins at full strength; still don't, but much closer to 100% than in April. Their back row has 2 of 3 returnees, but Rodriguez replacing Knuckles at Libero has really improved their back row play. Krause replacing Sweet, and Batenhorst replacing Sun equates to so much youth instead of post-season experience; but, Sweet and Sun combined hit negative against Texas, so perhaps youth being served is not a bad thing. I don't believe Nebraska had an answer for Asjia O'Neal's slide attacks last season. They slowed down Butler and Phillips, so those 2 will have to be more effective on Saturday night. texassports.com/sports/womens-volleyball/stats/2020-21/nebraska/boxscore/14218

She could very likely be an X factor for Texas

Washington's blocking performance in the first 2 sets is something that really helped them take the lead in my opinion...even if they weren't stuffing balls straight down they were getting block touches on just about every ball Texas was hitting at them which led to easy transition swings. Texas was able to figure it out and turn the tides yesterday, but Nebraska has the capability to cause more problems for Texas than Washington did. It'll be important for Nebraska to find good blocking matchups to slow down the powerful Texas offence. As for Texas, the defence (and serve receive) needs to step it up as they did in the last 3 sets yesterday. A few bad passes in a row off serve sucks the momentum out of any team. I've got Texas winning this one in 4 or 5, but it should be a good one!

Hats off for Coach Cook. Nebraska had Stivrins only half the year. Their other super senior was a shadow of her former self almost the whole year. And the super high potential freshmen the Huskers need to perform at championship level have not played enough minutes as a unit. Nebraska is probably the 10th to 15th best performing team (not potential) and the Coach has them finishing in the final eight. That's pretty good coaching and pretty great effort IMO. GBR
