Anyone have any insight on where Stella Swenson is planning on playing for college? Just watched the AAAA championship match on YouTube and wow, she is talented!
Also, just saw some Prior Lake volleyball and wow, Hanson is really solid.
Makes me wonder if either Landfair, Wucherer, Crowl, or Hanson could play middle if we needed them to.
I think Husemann has a lock on one MB position, just not sure what we will have for the other MB…

Minnesota is going to be my Big 10 team to root for for the foreseeable future (never rooted for any big 10, but Samedy always had a place in my heart). I love Landfair though, so with Wenaas and Wurcherer, is it to y’all’s belief that Landfair will take over the Samedy role as a 6 rotation opposite? I really do think she has that kind of potential to be a first option opposite.

I really do think she has that kind of potential to be a first option opposite. I agree she has the potential but i’m worried about her hitch arm swing and how that would work on the right with hugh’s fast offense. But i trust that hugh will make it work, he always does.

Hugh is known for developing and preparing players to play internationally. That includes developing 6 ro players. I'd assume this is why some players choose to play for him, for that overall development. I'm not sure how well this translates into winning ncaa championships, but I don't think that's necessarily his goal. He wants to develop players to their best and if they happen to be good enough collectively to win a national championship then great. But I don't think his coaching goal is to win a natty, it's more player focused not team results focused. If this were true, then he should be fired on the spot. I've never read anything more selfish. I suspect this is not true at all. Winning (team) titles is the *only* thing that matters. Doesn't matter in the slightest if we have AA players or national team players, if we win titles. This has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.

The man literally has Olympic medals to his name. Obviously he’s going to use wanting to win the National championship as a recruiting selling point like every other Top 10-15 program does but he does that by developing his players to the best of his ability first and foremost, I doubt that’s the main goal in his mind each year, but it’s a nice one. Wow a lot of people out here showing they have zero sense of what it takes to develop a top tier program…

I watched one of his TedTalks and he articulated that very well!

And as 2021 went along it was clear the offense was speeding up and credit to melanie for that.

The quick attempts in the middle drew a lot of criticism but they tried. Out of system it was not always as quick as it was with Seliger-Swenson but in system was quick.

I think Husemann has a lock on one MB position, just not sure what we will have for the other MB…There's still Anna Wolf AND First Year Carter Booth. I think either of these would be a more logical choice rather than converting Hanson. Wucherer, or the Lefty Crowl to MB.

Anna Wolf has been practicing with the team for a year and I suspect she is better than she is getting credit for.

You’re right about Anna Wolf. Seeing Booth play at the Under Armour match was extremely disheartening. Granted, this is a group of high school athletes with only a few days to practice together and gets thrust onto national television and nerves could have impacted her play. But, honestly, she really didn’t look like she knew where to be on the court and her agility needs a lot, a lot, of work. There is no way I can personally see Booth getting much playing time next year or even few years unless The U coaches can really help her. And, if we don’t convert another hitter (which I completely understand why we wouldn’t) or get a transfer, Wolf will get the second spot. Just trying to think how we can utilize all Wucherer, Landfair, Hanson, Wenaas, and Husemann. I was unable to make it to the scrimmage at the start of last season. How did Wolf look?
