why did Minnesota get a fourth setter? is the plan to convert one or two into a DS? I have the feeling that might be the case. Since Rachel and CC will be gone by next season and they have only one libero/ds coming in for 2023.

Makes me wonder how serious Shaffmasters injury was last year. Mel - be well.

MELANI SHAFFMASTER - "Incumbent" Junior - 6'3"
Chloe Ng (Vancouver, Canada) - Incoming Freshman - 5'9" Elise McGhie (Kansas City, Mo.) - Incoming Transfer [Kansas] Sophomore - 5'9" MIRANDA WUCHERER (BROOKFIELD, WIS.) - Incoming Transfer [Northern Kentucky] Graduate - 5'9"

Unless on an emergency basis, why would a coach recruit a setter transfer rather than a libero?

Katie Schau converted from setter to DS for 15-16 and was very successful

that's not tall enough to be our starting setter. Must be Ng out.

I hope Shaffmaster doesn’t leave! I don’t have any information… just seems like 4 setters is a lot which makes me think one will transfer out or de-commit.

Maybe its a simple as this setter can come for spring season and the other two can't, so she fills a need for now.

And MirWucherer is only around for 1 season. Could be for looking forward.

I have been wondering what spring would look like with only Shaffmaster on the roster. I figured they’d just have a practice player or maybe McMenimen would still be around finishing classes. Offering a scholarship to a setter with three years of eligibility left just because you need another spring setter seems… interesting. I wonder if there’s some bigger plan. Maybe a 6-2 so we can use 4 of our many talented pins.
