I’m just shocked that the roster was updated this quickly at all! Same, and that the NCAA has okayed the Landfair redshirt already, apparently. Her bio page says she “will apply for a medical redshirt.” I guess they’re hopeful that it gets approved.

Yes, roster update with all these changes already is wild. Hugh has to be getting a transfer middle now if Shea isn't coming back. Three doesn't cut it. As expected, Landfair and Crowl redshirted this year. I really hope Laura stays though!! How long until we hear about Kaitlyn Hord being that middle addition? It could be Naya Gross from MSU or a handful of other good MB in the portal. Again, if we have a scholarship.

Edit: sad to see her go, but excited for the transfer possibilities!

Are there actually whispers of Hord considering Minnesota, or is it just people wishing she would come here and thinking she would be a good fit (because she would!)?

Laura Kasey not listed as well? Is this just because she's busy recruiting? I noticed this too. She wasn’t listed on this fall’s roster either though. I noticed that she removed Minnesota Volleyball references from her Twitter profile. She does have 2 young sons that are not eligible to be vaccinated. Her taking a 'leave' from coaching may be related to her avoiding exposure to COVID and exposing her sons to the virus.

Why would she come to a place where the setter can't do the standard middle quick set that most high-level volleyball teams score a good chunk of points off?

Why are there Wisconsin residents on the roster? Wanted to get out of a crappy, conservative state?

I certainly have no idea why Laura Kasey's picture/name has been withdrawn from our Coaching Staff. But....woudln't you expect, if she wasn't permanently gone (for whatver reason), it would be a hard draw for a TOP/MUCH NEEDED MIDDLE COACH to come to Minnesota? To me, this adds (good or bad) to an already outstanding program working hard to get back on track.

I agree, the most likely scenarios are either Kasey is moving on - to another position, or just not coaching for a while. Minnesota has kept this coaching group together for a while now, 6 or 7 years, and they have been very successful. It is at OK time to bring in someone new. I look forward to finding out who.

The Gophers wouldn't have shut down Landfair unless they had a good idea that the redshirt was going through. They likely got "pre-approved" by the NCAA. The NCAA has been siding with the players on all decision making regarding granting extra playing time. It will be fun to see Taylor back in competition.

Also wonder how much time Landfair was on the bench but was physically ready to have been put back in, but they felt good about NOT doing that because of how great Miyabe has been this year.
No question, Miyabe rose up to her own level this season, and can't even reasonably be judged in comparison to what a healthy Landfair "might have done". Nope
So glad she got to have this year, for coming back.

You're right, mcmike. at least Smrek won't have Hilley setting her, I guess.

I know, right? Ugh, she might almost be better than Rettke.
