An NC is a goal, but it isn't an end-all, be-all thing. Wrong. If you’re not getting to the FF, at least, not good enough. You’re not getting it done. Settling for sweet sixteens and elite eights would be the typical Minnesotan “aw gee, heck, that’s pretty darn good ya know”.

What do we expect for the starting lineup at season's beginning and end? What lineup do you want to see?
Expected (Beginning): OH Wenaas OH Wucherer (DS Kilkelly depending on how ready Wucherer jr is to pass/defend)/Landfair MB Husemann MB Booth S Shaffmaster OPP Landfair/Crowl L McGraw
Expected (End): OH Wenaas OH Wucherer MB Husemann MB Booth S Shaffmaster OPP Landfair L McGraw
I'd like to see the ending lineup with a Shaffmaster setting glowup. It'll serve everyone to have a full offseason. I'm sure she knows better than everyone else what she needs to work on. She can grind it out.
To folks who went to the scrimmage, how did Crowl look?
I could see Landfair going OPP because she puts up a huge block on opposing OH and could end. up pulling a JT.
I'm not sure how ready Wucherer will be with her passing game so I can see Kilkelly going in for her early. If Wucherer holds up then Kilkelly could DS for Landfair. Idk how I feel about it but I would like to see Landfair play more defense. Could be interesting.
Between the three possible OHs of Wenaas, Wucherer, and Landfair, who's more of an OH1 type and who's OH2? Wenaas is OH2 but would Wucherer be ready to be OH1? Landfair was originally OH1.
I'd love to see Glenn nail her serve and serve for one of the middles. Next season it looks like Shaff and CC are the strongest servers. Kilkelly has moments of being aggressive but can also serve a lollipop.

Weird alt that I don't see happening due to player development logjam:
OH1 Landfair OH2 Wucherer (DS Wenaas to get her on the biq) MB Husemann MB Booth OPP Crowl (DS Kilkelly) S Shaffmaster L McGraw

I don’t seen Hugh taking Wenaas out, unless she somehow declines drastically from this season. I agree with you, I think Landfair can succeed as OPP, and her block out there would be clutch.

I could troll here and say at least the Badgers have one, asterick or not, but that would be childish.;-) How many times did you beat the Badgers this year again? Was it, 2 sets to 9, or am I misremembering? ;-) You are making the Minnesota nice seem like a myth. Anyway, you are blocked member #26; It's a wonder I am still on this board. To the rest of you: I like and respect the Gophers. I am only trolling one of you, and for the last time.

I’d love to see her in a Samantha Drechsel-ish role, except only being in serve receive when she’s in the back row maybe

I couldn't tell if Wucherer was OH1 for the U18 team. I want to see the three of them on the pins. This could also solve any rotations where, with Fall '21, they got stuck when Steph was on the left. Though if in this scenario Landfair is OH1, where does Wucherer go?

Though if in this scenario Landfair is OH1, where does Wucherer go? I think Landfair and Wucherer are competing for OH1 or Opp and Wenaas has OH2 locked down. I think both Landfair and Wucherer play, but whoever can be more effective hitting from the right will play opp. I could see Hugh getting creative with where players hit from as well as who is passing, i.e. the player slotted as opp may do more serve receive than we’d usually expect, may hit on the left more often, etc. He played around with that sort of thing back in the first half of the 2013 season when he was trying out a freshman Sarah Wilhite in the opp spot with Santana and Wittman at OH. He even gave an interview that said having a true OH (Wilhite) in the opp spot gave them more flexibility when trying to side out for passing formations and combination plays etc.

Traditionally, having a tall Opp was great for blocking OH. Will be interesting to see now if we continue to use our tallest pin hitter (Landfair) at OH to counter the WI slide attack, or if we'll go the traditional route.

You are making the Minnesota nice seem like a myth. I've lived in MN for 20 years and you have a pretty accurate perception of what MN nice truly is.
